Academy vs Liverpool

Delayed kick off, was due to start at 11am but because of the frozen pitch at Carrington, it has just kicked off now. Should be a good match, would hopefully be a great way to react to going out of the FA Youth Cup in midweek.

Quite a few changes to the side, Reece Brown and Davide Petrucci are out through injury.

Starting line-up:

1. Johnstone
2. Massacci
3. Ajose
4. Wootton
5. McGinty
6. Tunnicliffe
7. Cole
8. Pogba
9. Cofie
10. Keane
11. Hussain

Quite annoyed MUTV cut into a compilation of Solskjaer goals to start the coverage of this

Stronger team than I expected.

Johnstone's distribution is always very good whenever I've watched him.

Their pitch was awful, not surprised a couple of our player came away with injuries.

It's 0-0 after about 25 mins. Not a lot of goalmouth action so far, the best chance falling to Will Keane from an excellent cross from the left from Hussain but he seemed to get a bit in front of the ball and it appeared to hit his shoulder.

Liverpool have only really threatened from set pieces.

Thomas Ince looks most likely to create something for them at the moment. He looks dangerous cutting in from the right on his left foot and playing against a makeshift left back.

United are having problems getting into a rhythm. Liverpool having all of the play without really creating much.

Pitch is also very hard for any slick passing.

Lingard coming in for Cole who appeared to pick up a knee injury after a foul. Shame that Morrison wasn't put on instead, we could do with a bit of a spark.

That's fair, we also look a bit tired after playing on Thurs night.

We look knackered, unsurprisingly. Liverpool the better side but we're defending doggedly. Shame Keane couldn't have taken one of his chances to give us a lead to defend.

A lot brighter 2nd half already, the game is opening up and Keane just failed to get a shot away in a good position.

Great bit of goalkeeping from Johnstone, dives in to prevent their strikers getting a clear chance, and follows it up with a great sliding tackle on ngoo that upended him.

The Beetham Tower comes on for Liverpool in place of Adorjan.

Lingard has been lively since he's come on.

Morrison lucky to get away with a heavy tackle in his own area on Ince, looked a pen.

Dalla Valle heads straight at Johnstone with a clear header about 8 yards out.

0 - 1 Dalla Valle with a good near post header from an Ince cross.

0 - 1 Full time

Far better 2nd half but struggled to create a clear chance and Liverpool looked far more threatening as they started to go long to Dalla Valle, and also should have had a pen.

Disappointing few days but they showed some charachter 2nd half and spirit but just came up short.
