Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson is the target of three top Championship sides following an impressive campaign on loan with Wolverhampton Wanderers last season.

The Republic of Ireland international is wanted back by Mick McCarthy, while Birmingham and Crystal Palace are also reported to be keen on bringing the player in to help their promotion bid.

However, it looks as if Gibson does move, it will only be on loan as United manager Alex Ferguson is keen to keep the Derry born player at the club as he’s tipped to make the grade at Old Trafford.

Gibson faces tough competition to break into the current United midfield and it is felt that he would benefit more from being loaned out than sitting in the stand almost every week.

Anyways he's Irish, plays for Man Utd so why aren't Sunderland after him?

Wolves fans weren't verly impressed with him last I heard. Shame he's so lazy because he's got bundles of talent.

Never thought he would make it here, a little bit of a case that United are too good, and a little bit of a case that he isn't good enough
