Cut and paste from the official site says this...

Reserves: Derby side named

United's Reserves face Manchester City tonight for the first time since inflicting a six-goal hammering on their local rivals.

Fraizer Campbell (4) Giuseppe Rossi and Markus Neumayr were all on target back in April, but a very different second string will face Stuart Wigley's side at Sportcity.

Gone are the goalscorers, many of their team-mates and manager Rene Meulensteen. Only three of the starting XI who humbled the Blues start tonight under Brian McClair.

They are Phil Marsh, Ritchie Jones and Danny Rose, who captains the Reserves for the first time. David Gray, Michael Barnes and Ryan Shawcross, all substitutes in April, start.

Tom Heaton continues in goal, behind a defensive line of Kieran Lee, Rose, Shawcross and Gray, while the midfield is made up of Ritchie Jones, David Jones, Barnes and Sean Evans.

There is no place for Alan Smith, who was back on the first-team bench against Celtic. Phil Marsh and Aaron Burns occupy the striking berths.

Tonight's derby will be shown live from 6:30pm on MUTV, with kick-off at 7pm.

United: Heaton, Lee, Rose, Shawcross, Gray, R Jones, Barnes, D Jones, Burns, Marsh, Evans.
Substitutes: Lea, Zieler, Cathcart, Brandy.

Maybe.. just maybe, SAF see implaying on Sunday... even as a sub.. He's not 10% sure about Rooney, and with Giggs and Park both out he needs to keep his options open

Pretty crap game. We deserved the win just about, our defending was superb. Shawcross was great again and Cathcart was very impressive. Is there a position that David Gray can't play? He seems to be in a different position every time I see him, another good display from him.

Sorry, I didn't respond earlier I had to dash out... I've just got back in and though it wasn't the most entertaining of games, it showed another side of our youngsters tonight.

Though City didn't really trouble Heaton much, they put us under lots of pressure and the defence certainly stood up to the challenge. I'm still not so sure of Lee playing in midfield, but if needs must. The two Jones didn't have great games, if he's to push for the first team, David Jones has to stamp his authority on these games.

Craig Cathcart again was the star today, I think we can add him to the long list of defenders we've got who should make the grade. Our young defenders apart from keeping our first team well stocked and on there toes over the next couple of years could earn the club some money, as we can't expect to keep hold of all of them can we??

Looking at the team as a whole though, this years team is still very young and though during the Blackburn game and to a point tonight, I felt we weren't at the races, towards the end I realised just how little experience we've got in this team at this level. We've got virtually a new team from last year, and they are just starting to get into there stride right now. I think it's going to be a battle through out the season, and won't be the beautiful game we saw with last years team.

I just think we're lacking players up front this year. The defence is very strong and the centre of midfield also picks itself with the two Jones'. It is a very very young side though, other than David Jones I think everyone was 19 and under tonight, with maybe the odd exception?

To me,the beautiful game is seeing our new youngsters being put through their paces and showing heart..........

I like to see the team emerging as the season wears on........

Cathcart looked very good tonight, I must admit and I was quite impressed with Danny Rose, too!

Whilst I agree watching this team emerge is very pleasing and to a point even more so than watching the reserves last year, I feel that the style of play we had last year won't be matched. It was pleasing to the eye, and true to the "United Style". This year as a very young side competing above there age, I fear it's a case of backs to the wall, and do what we did tonight. Score early and then defend. As pointed out above, we are a bit light up front, in comparison to last year, but that's something that we have chosen to be.

We have an awful lot out on loan, don't we?

There were loads of players I've hardly heard of playing tonight

Only caught parts of the game. Looked like a proper footall match though, tackles flying in and the like.

Cathcart looks decent. How old is he?

18 next Feb. Like J.Evans, he was the captain of N.Ireland in his age group. And I remember reading or hearing that he was this summers' Milk Cup's man-of-the-tournament, but that could've been tinted by home country bias. But he is another excellent prospect at CB. First saw him alongside J.Evans in last season's FA Youth Cup. The pair of them were very impressive.
