Reserves ready for Bury

A youthful Reserves side will aim to continue United's winning start to the 2007/08 Manchester Senior Cup against Bury on Thursday evening.

Gary Neville and Chris Eagles featured as the Reds hit six against Stockport in their last Senior Cup outing, but Brian McClair and Jim Ryan will rely on a host of youngsters at the Victoria Stadium.

Ron Robert-Zieler starts in goal, behind a defence of David Gray, Richard Eckersley, James Chester and Tom Cleverley.

Sean Evans and Michael Barnes flank a central midfield partnership of Sam Hewson and Kieran Lee, while Chris Fagan partners Dong Fangzhuo upfront.

The substitutes' bench comprises Gary Woods, Febian Brandy, Corry Evans, Danny Welbeck and Magnus Eikrem.

United: Zieler; Gray, R Eckersley, Chester, Cleverley; Barnes, Lee, Hewson, S Evans; Fagan, Dong.
Substitutes: Woods, Brandy, C Evans, Welbeck, Eikrem.

Were fagans goals any use? He's Irish as far as I know, although he hasnt been called up to our u21's yet. Seems a handy player, plays well as a link man dropping deep alot.

Seen him a couple of times and he looks a bit meh to me. Could have caught him on a bad day though.

I've seen him a few times. He's a bit hit and miss, tbh. Decent touch, a good eye for a pass and not a bad finisher. But he can also be very lightweight and sometimes dwells on the ball too long.

Still, he looks well young so plenty of time to gain some consistency. Or not.
