From CL qualifiers to united reserves.. wow

CITY 1 - 3 MANCHESTER UNITED SELECT XI: Mike Smith reports - A youthful Manchester United proved too fast and elusive for determined Bangor.

And it was a well taken brace from youth cup winner John Cofie which proved the difference between the two sides.

The tall youngster put United ahead on nine minutes with a fierce drive from outside the box - to cap off some impressive ball control - and send the ball smashing into the roof of the net and stanction at the Farrar End.

This came after City had forced a series of corners but failed to get the better of Sam Johnston and his young defence.

Peter Hoy went close for Bangor whilst Italian midfielder Davide Petrucci was denied by Paul Smith. Five minutes before half time Alan Bull capitalised on a defensive mix up to score from eight yards but within a minute John Cofie slotted home from the left to restore the lead.

Substitute Sion Edwards and former Cardiff loanee Danny Drinkwater exchanged efforts before the final goal of the evening on 70 mins saw Ravel Morrison waltz through the blues defence before firing home from the right.

On a rainy night though both sides did well to serve up an enteraining match calmly refereed by local official Huw Jones (?) whose calm authority would put his younger WP counterparts to shame.

What, Bangor lost 10-0 at HJK Helsinki in the second leg, conceding EIGHT in the second half?
