Reserves vs Everton

This week, isn't it? Any idea when?

I'm very much looking forward to seeing a certain full-back bombing down the right again. It's been a long time.

I'm also looking forward to seeing if Dong can justify cookie's kind words in a recent interview.

Yup. That would explain the cookie/choccie mix-up in my aging brain.

Damn, I'm suddenly feeling peckish...

Neville to face Merseysiders

Gary Neville will make his first competitive appearance since October when he lines up for United's Reserves on Wednesday evening.

The Reds' club captain is part of the squad which will travel to Widnes to face Everton, fuelling hopes that he will be ready for a senior return in the near future.

Neville, who has struggled with an ankle injury since March last year, is by far the most senior member of a 16-man squad selected by Brian McClair and Jim Ryan, although first-team squad member Danny Simpson also travels.

Ritchie Jones, Craig Cathcart and Michael Lea are also included in the party, having returned from their respective loans at Yeovil and Royal Antwerp.

You can watch Neville's return live on MUTV, with the match scheduled to kick off at 7pm.

United squad:
Zieler, Heaton; Neville, Simpson, Eckersley, Chester, Cathcart, Lea; Hewson, Gray, Jones, S Evans, Cleverley; Dong, Brandy, Fagan.

40 mins: Irving fouls Brandy in the area. Irving gets sent off, Ritchie Jones misses penalty.

Great to see gary back, looks in very good shape bombing up and down the flank.

Dong may be pretty shit but that pass to brandy was brilliant.

Hewson continues to impress me, makes himself time and space, can pass and isn't scared to drive forward when he gets the ball. May never make it at United but he looks like he could have a good career.

I'm not gerry but....

doing very well, none of the goals were his fault. One was a deflection off the two centre backs that looped over zielers head and the other was from distance.

goal was quite good, was playing out wide when the ball was played across to him, cut inside past baines(?) and bombed into the box, left footed shot took a deflection past the keeper.

He looked okay. He got forward quite a lot, had a few crosses and the shor for the goal.

Simpson is off too. Clearly protecting our right backs as Brown is going to Tottenham this week.

First reserve game I´ve missed for a while, seems like I missed a good game. Good to hear that Nev made a good return, since he was taken off at HT he´s obviously some way from full fitness, but let´s hope there won´t be any more set backs and it´ll be a steady recovery for him.

Yay Gazza's back played well no mistakes, should be ready for the 1st team after a couple more games.

Was a good enough game, especially considering the conditions, rain was awful. Thought the sending off was fair enough, he did clip him, although Brandy was lucky to get it as he had wasted the chance.Great pass by The Dong! apart from that Dong was crap, so was Brandy for a lot of the match, although you could still tell he's a great player but things just didn't comeoff for him.

Hewson was class, just some composed on the ball, great passing, good tackling, seems to find space well to recieve the ball, like Scholesy.

Two performances I think which were bad Chester and Jones. Chester was awful tbh, lost the ball and slipped quite a few times. I've been impressed with him in the past but not today, maybe it can be put down to the conditions though.at fault for the 2nd goal.

Jones wasn't that good either, passing was hit and miss, missed a penalty and his corners were awful.

Noticed that Chris Eagles wasn't in the squad.

Is he injured or is a transfer a possibility?
