United's winning start to the Manchester Senior Cup continued with a hard-fought victory over Rochdale.

Kiko Macheda bagged the second-half winner for Warren Joyce's side, after Will Keane's opener had been cancelled out by Dale's Neal Trotman.

United forged ahead shortly before the interval through Keane's improvised, scooped finish. Trotman powered home a header shortly after half-time, finally finding a route past an on-form Tomasz Kuszczak in the away goal.

Macheda had the final say, however, when he finished off fine approach play from Keane with a powerful drive which spun into the Dale goal, off David Lukas' hand.

What a glut of strikers we have in the reserves and not in a good way -- since it will block the progress of Cofie and Keane.
