This time United youngster to Italy!

Youth stars “on verge of Italy move”

June 25, 2008

Manchester United youngster Conor McCormack and former Liverpool trainee Michael Collins are both on the verge of a move to Italian Serie B side Triestina, according to a Wednesday newspaper report.

Eighteen-year-old Dundalk lad McCormack has been on the books of United for the past two years.

Collins is a 17-year-old Dubliner who recently parted company with Liverpool.

A report in Wednesday’s Irish Daily Star claims that the pair are “putting the finishing touches” to contracts this week after impressing in a trial at Triestina in May.

Triestina is most famous as the club where Cesare Maldini, former Italy player and manager and the father of the legendary Paolo, started his career in the 1950s.

He was ace with FC Dallas for a few seasons. One of the best crossers of the ball the MLS has ever seen. Not sure where he's at today but it's somewhere in the MLS.

Good on him. I think more British footballers and coaches should spend time abroad.
