U-18's v Leeds

United travelled to Leeds on Staurday and came away with a well deserved three points after a 2-1 victory. Goals from Daniel Galbraith and Antonio Bryan gave United their first win of the season after two losses and a draw in their previous three games.

Once again United were clearly the smaller and younger side......but instead of playing the long ball or through the middle.........the Academy side tried playing through the channels to good effect. Daniel Galbraith scored a cracker from the left wing after 20 minutes to put United ahead. The Reds played good football throughout, playing to feet and knocking the ball around well. Leeds equalised before half-time when a deflected free kick gave Zieler no chance.....and the score was 1-1 at the break.

United had most of the second period.....and deservedly went ahead went Bryan stuck a shot from 35 yards that took a deflection to beat the Leeds keeper.......the young reds had most of the possession and played with good composure and confidence....

Febian Brandy was outstanding in attack.....well supported by Bryan and Galbraith.....

In defence...James Chester was solid.....and has probably been our most consistent player so far this term......

McCormack played at right back and did not let the side down......and Michael Lea....after nearly a year out with injury...started to show the type of form we know he can produce at left back......

Team: Zieler, McCormack, Lea, Chester, Cathcart, C. Evans, Bryan, Eikrem, Brandy, Fagan, Galbraith

Subs: Derbyshire (8), Amos, Welbeck (10), Drinkwater (7)

Scorers: Galbraith, Bryan

Thanks for the reports Tony. Is Brandy likely to make the step up to the reserves this year do you think? We're very short up front there

I think that the jury is still out............

On the positive side.....he is very competitive, quick, never gives up, good skills, very good close control and can score.....

On the negatives....he is small, gets pushed off the ball and can sometimes lose his rag.......

He is not a Wright-Phillips type player with electric pace....so we will just have to wait and see....but no doubt he will get a run in the reserves at some point.....
