BY CHRIS SPITTLES

08:00 - 15 August 2007

Yeovil Town will today complete the signing of Manchester United midfielder Ritchie Jones on a long-term loan.

The Glovers, who last night crashed out of the Carling Cup to Hereford have been chasing the 20-year-old all summer.

And boss Russell Slade's hard work has finally paid off as the highly-rated youngster, above, will move to Huish Park in time for Saturday's League game with Port Vale.

Jones has left Old Trafford on loan before, spending spells with both Barnsley and Colchester in the Championship last season.

He has also played five games for United's first team, with four appearances in the League Cup and one in the FA Cup.

The Stockport-born player can play in central midfield as well as on the right wing and at right-back.

Yeovil are most likely to utilise him in central midfield, with Marc Bircham and Gary Dempsey both currently sidelined by injury.

While Jones joins Yeovil today, winger Ishmael Welsh is set to complete his loan move to Blue Square Premier side Torquay United.

Welsh should switch to Plainmoor in time to play for the Gulls tonight and could make the move permanent if he impresses.

I don't think Ritchie can make it at United. Hopefully he will do well enough to earn him a permanent contract in the football league, maybe Leauge Championship.
