FA Youth Cup
United lost 0-1 at City last night. Although we dominated possession, we could not really manage a good scoring chance until late in the game. City scored in the 85th minute with virtually their only shot of the game.......
Makes you want to be sick!!!!! Team from last night was: Zieler, Gray, Lee, Cathcart, Shawcross, Rose, Mullan, Gibson, Campbell, Hewson, S. Evans Subs: Lea, Amos, Brandy (10), Burns, Chester Brandy came on with 17 minutes left and he upped the tempo which was very slow for most of the match....... Stats as follows United/City Shots on Goal - 4/2 Shots off target - 9/1 Crosses - 19/6 Corners - 8/5 Shots Blocked - 7/0 Yellow Cards - 0/0 Red Cards - 0/0 Free Kicks Received - 11/13 Offsides Against - 1/0 As you can see, City didn't show much at all but got the goal........ |

not in the fact that he got the red card but i believe that he needs to introduce just a little bit more grit in his game. he's a superb player, athlete as he'l chase the ball all over the park but the only thing i believe lacking in his game is the grit and devilishness that a young player like brandy has. |

Academy Derby Off
Saturday's Academy mini derby with Manchester United at Platt lane is off due to frozen pitches. City now have two games to re-arrange as last week's away tie at West Brom was postponed also. |

Sir Bobby Charlton To Be Guest of Honor
British Soccer Legend, Knighted by the Queen of England Comes To Dallas -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Soccer legend, Sir Bobby Charlton of Manchester United and England fame, will be the guest of honor at this year’s Dallas Cup tournament, to be held at Pizza Hut Park complex and stadium, April 9-16. Knighted by the Queen of England in 1996 for services to the sport of soccer, “Sir Bobby” as he is affectionately known throughout the world, won every team honor the game has to offer, the 1966 World Cup, the 1963 FA Cup and English First Division Championships in 1957, 1965 and 1967. Past individual honors for Sir Bobby include the Football Writers' Player of the Year in 1967 and the 1975 Professional Footballers Association Award. In an interview conducted by CNN reporter Andrew Stevens in late May 2005, Charlton was asked what he remembered about playing in the 1966 World Cup game, in which England beat Germany 4-2 in overtime, and he stated, "I remember almost all of it, we'd beaten Portugal in the semi-final, we'd reached the World Cup final, and for every player that dreamed of being a footballer, this was the ultimate." A survivor of the tragic 1958 Munich air crash in which twenty one people died, among them seven of the Manchester United team, Sir Bobby’s career spanned 18 years. A career in which he gained 106 international caps for England, scoring 49 goals, a record that still stands today. He played in 751 games for Manchester United, scoring 245 goals. His exquisite skills, grace, speed, athleticism and a thunderbolt shot made him recognized throughout the world, but Bobby Charlton stood for something that the world admired. He was a gentleman. The ultimate in old fashion heroes. He was never in trouble, never argued with referees, showed honesty and respect to opponents, making him the perfect role model for young soccer stars. He is currently a member of the Manchester United Board of Directors, serving as one of the greatest ambassadors in the history of the British sport. Executive director of Dallas Cup, Gordon Jago, played against Bobby Charlton in England, said, "He was a great player, a great gentleman and a true sportsman. All of us here at Dallas Cup are honored and delighted that Sir Bobby Charlton will be with us for Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXVII". Sir Bobby will accompany his club's Under 19 Manchester United FC team to Dallas where they will meet Real Madrid CF on American soil to compete, along with 10 additional top clubs from around the world, for the honored title of the Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXVII Super Group Champions. The tournament officially begins Sunday, April 9th at Pizza Hut Park with games starting at noon at the 16-field complex and Richland College. The first of 14 stadium games begins that same day at 3:00pm, followed by Dallas Cup Opening Ceremonies at 5:00pm. Wrapping up the games on April 9th, at 7:00pm, will be Manchester United FC (U19) vs. Real Madrid CF (U19). |
