2,000 league wins

Bahamared mentioned it in the matchday thread, but I think this deserves a separate thread. We've just become the first English club to register 2,000 league wins. well done United.

Not sure that is correct. The latest stats I could find were on the following site:

Statistics - Football365 News

They have us on 1812 after the 2007/8 season. We have had 38 wins since then (10 this season, and 28 last year). So the total is currently 1850 if that site is correct.

Found another site that said we had 1584 wins up to the introduction of the Premier League. The EPL site says we have 432 Premier League wins, so that would be 2016.

Looks like there are plenty of bad statistics on the Internet.

League wins as in league and non-league football, I think. I'm not sure though. It is on the telegraph website too.

I have now checked (and by checked I mean - calculated all United / Newton Heath wins from the beginning of time

I can confirm that United had 1.990 league wins before this season. This was indeed the 2000 win for United - I do however not now if it was the first club to do so - but I am gonna go with the guy who said it was. If he could keep track of 2000 wins - he should know that as well.

For the record

1907/1908 - win number 250

1927/1928 - win number 500

1949/1950 - win number 750

1961/1962 - win number 1000

1974/1975 - win number 1250

1987/1988 - win number 1500

1999/2000 - win number 1750
