i actually do think you will struggle to score this season. you relied heavily on Ronaldo last season, and with Ole having packed it in, i can genuinely see you struggle, because i think Tevez and Rooney are too similar, and you havent got any variation in your strikers, plus Saha is always injured.

I am fully confident that the goals will start to flow soon. Ronaldo and Saha are back, Tevez is a slow starter (we all know that) and Rooney is almost ready. When the new boys gel we will start banging them in. I am most impressed that our defence looks fantastic. It won't be long before the 3 and 4 - nils start. But for know I am more than happy with our 1 - nils - another one on Sunday against the Russians will do nicely........

Ok

I on the other hand reckon United will score more league goals than Liverpool.

You lot are getting very giddy...

do you think you will miss Silvestre, especially as he is versatile and offers cover across the back 4?

But, we do have an out and out striker.

Players are returning from injury and suspension, there is steady improvment to our performacnes. Despite our forward line not firing as we'd like. we're still fourth and the leaders are in easy reach.

It has been more frustrating, than concerning i'd say.

All is in hand though.

Not if Evans or Simpson can step us and be back up for Evra.

Yes, where are the goals going to be coming from?

Seriously, in answer to the original question: yes I am a little concerned but, as we're still in touch, not overly. We'll be there or therabouts at the end.

Saha and Rooney are capable of scoring plenty. Ronaldo will get quite a bit, but you're right in saying he probablly wont get as many as last season. I'm pretty sure Tevez will chip in with the goals when he hits form.

The reason we have a lack of goals is because 2 of those players haven't played 90 minutes of football, Ronaldo has only had about 2 and a half games, and Tevez is short of form and confidence, which most fans have no doubt will come in time.

So there's no real cause for concern. The reason we did so well last season was because we weren't relying on one player to score all our goals last season and everyone chipped in. If anything, we relied on Ronaldo in general and not for scoring goals. Once we have Rooney, Ronaldo, Saha and Tevez all available i think they'll start to bang in the goals, as well as Scholes, Giggs, Nani, Carrick, Hargreaves, and even Vidic chipping in.

With an off form Tevez, at a new club, leading the line on his own for the majority of our games so far and Giggs playing out of position up front with him, there's alot of reasoning behind our 4 goals in 6 games this season.

And by the time i took to type, the majority of my points had already been mentioned anyway.

Its true that we gotta get our flow going and soon. We cant win any competition this season if we find it hard to score goals.

do you think your style of play has changed, i've noticed watching you lot his season, that you dont seem to be crossing the ball into the box as much as before

We'll miss his versatility at the back, especially with Judas gone and O'Shea out, but we have potentially two of the best young defenders in the league ready to step up (Evans and Pique) - and I can see Evans playing a role on the left for us. Tweety was only cover for the back 4 anyway, disappointing to lose him, but we'll be fine. I think Evans will eventually prove to be a better player.....

Its clear that we missed RVS in certain aspects; especially his finishing and his height. Rooney and Ronaldo did brilliant job last season by scoring 46 goals between them If I am not mistaken.

I've no doubts that Saha and Tevez will bang 20 goals each this season.

I thought Evans looked poor for Northern Ireland. his sense of positioning is awful, and he cant pass the ball. maybe he'll be better with better players around him

Again, Tevez was left up front on his own, and there was a lack of height for the supplier to actually pick anyone out. I would need to watch alot more games to really decide if style of play is different from last season anyway. To me it has looked the same, but unlike last season we've just lacked the cutting edge to get the goals.

It gets mentioned alot on here, but Saha really does have a major impact on our team, and with him almost fully fit (i hope) we'll finally get away from this 4-5-1 formation, in the league at least.

Not, it hasn't changed particuarly.

Apart from us mostly playing brilliantly last season, and less than good so far this season.

Not worried at all. We're still playing ourselves into form, but in the mean time we're tight as fuck, most teams don't see much of the ball against us, and you get that feeling that we might do a bit better against our main rivals in both the league and Europe. Rooney and Gaz are coming back to add some fire, and Saha is looking pretty sharp for a man who hasn't played much football.

I thought we'd start badly - it didn't take a genius since we had a shite preseason - but losing Rooney and Ronaldo in the early games hasn't helped. Considering that, we're hardly off the pace at all.

As Boring says, it's the others that should be worried.

In most of those games Tevez played alone upfront, no one was in the box at all to cross to. But soon to be resolved. And we still dominate games, so we're not playing that bad, just not scoring enough and creating enough chances.

We obviously need much more time until we see the best football again, but i'm not that worried as long as we get the 3 points at this stage of the season. Crucial to get through this period, and in 2-3 months we'll be banging them in.

On the plus side, we look very good defensively again with Rio, Vida and Evra, and hopefully Gary will be back soon

is that why he was MOM on several occasions?

Fred, you were a good poster on this board at the start. You're gradually turning into Gillespie, arguing that white is black

And players like Scholes or Giggs are still far away from their top form. If they play at their best soon, we'll be the side of last season again
