Anderson: Heading to Beijing
Prem trio in Brazil squad
Ronaldinho and Robinho also named in Olympic party Anderson: Heading to Beijing Dunga has included three Premier League players in his 18-man Brazil squad for the Olympic Games. Manchester United midfielder Anderson, Lucas of Liverpool and new Manchester City striker Jo have all been selected. Real Madrid's Robinho and Barcelona playmaker Ronaldinho - who is expected to leave Camp Nou this summer - have also made the cut. World Player of the Year Kaka has been left out after Milan made it clear they would not release him for duty in Beijing. The Rossoneri will lose 18-year-old starlet Alexandre Pato for the tournament, with clubs not allowed to prevent players under the age of 23 from participating. Brazil kick off their Olympic campaign against Belgium on 7th August, before also facing hosts China and New Zealand in Group C. Dunga's side will be among the favourites to win Gold in the final on 23rd August. Squad: Diego (Almeria), Renan (Internacional); Marcelo (Real Madrid), Ilsinho (Shakhtar Donetsk), Rafinha (Schalke), Thiago Silva (Fluminense), Alex Silva (Sao Paulo), Breno (Bayern Munich); Lucas (Liverpool), Anderson (Manchester United), Hernanes (Sao Paulo), Ronaldinho (Barcelona), Diego (Werder Bremen), Thiago Neves (Fluminense); Robinho (Real Madrid), Alexandre Pato (Milan), Rafael Sobis (Real Betis), Jo (Manchester City). I heard he wasnt going better not get injured, its a waste Dunga will have him on the wing again, fucking tool. |

Olympic football once was the holy grail for football players. I have the feeling it's gaining in importance again.
Until the late 50's the tournament had winners worthy of being world champions. The big Hungary team won it. Uruguay in the 30's etc. Brazil never made it while they always have a go. That Brazil squad looks phenomenal. I hope Anderson has a great tournament! It looks likely that he won't have an attacking role, which is a shame. |

Will never come close to the world cup. Hence shouldn't be in the olympics. An olympic godl whould be the ultimate prize in any sport involved. Same goes for tennis - what do the big stars want to win, Wimbledon or Olympics?

however, we can try and petition the IOC to make it so that only amateur and/or semi-professionals participate in it, like other competitions. |

Injury denies Park Olympics chance
Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-sung is set to miss out on the chance to represent South Korea at the Olympics because of injury. The 27-year-old was in contention to be named as one of three eligible players aged over 23 for the competition, but is struggling with a knee injury which forced him to miss last Saturday's 3-1 World Cup qualifying win in Turkmenistan. http://www.teamtalk.com/football/sto...701376,00.html |

At Roland Garros, yes. Wimbledon was a very close affair in fairness, though you get the feeling that the balance of power has shifted in tennis now. Before it used to be Nadal who won the French and Federer pretty much won everything else, but now that Nadal has won Wimbledon he'll be expecting to be the best on all surfaces...

stupid compition, of very little importance. why is Dunga bringing such a good squad. it reeks of him going all out to win this because of his recent rubbish results. As A1dan said, football is long over due to be scrapped from the olympics. |
