He doesn't give a shit, though!
Looks completely disinterested but is playing well at the same time.

These are the people I first learned to play football with. Thats where i learned my Malay from, so theres no issues of my isolating myself.

What i highlighted was just a reflection of my experiences as a player back then in my youth. My friends and I from the SADA and Air Force teams that won the inter formation tournament were invited by Hussein Aljuneid for trials with Safsa, and hands to hearts we, the newbies from the Air Force and Sada teams consisting of the Indians and Chinese beat the regular Safsa team hands down during training. But we were never never picked to play for Safsa.

Believe you me, theres nothing wrong with my positional sense and skills as a player and communicator, its just the way it was back then, whether you like it or not, and by reporting this, I don't think that qualifies me as a racist. Fandi himself must have noticed something when he made those comments all those years ago, and perhaps times are changing, the situation might be different now.

Theres racism everywhere, Singapore is no exception, but all of us can make it better. I felt that the truth needed to be said about the state of Singapore football so that parents with school going sons can decide whether or not to let them pursue their dreams or deem it as a waste of time.

I don't know what racial group you belong to but I apologise if I have offended you and I don't mind meeting you up for a cup of kopi 'O' to talk about Singapore football till the cows come home.
Cheerios bro.
Anyone going for the game tomorrow?
I'am a SIngaporean who has been classified as "other" in my I/C that somehows makes me feel "less Singaporean". To be more accurate, I'm of mixed stock consisting of Arab, Indian, Chinese, Pakistani & Malay blood. No kidding, both my grandfathers had like 3 wives each.

No, I wasnt exactly offended by your comments since statistaically you have a point. However, I was perturbed that you simply chose to highlight "race" (whatever that means) as a causal factor. Yet, in a unique way, while you do have some valid points concerning race & the Singapore national team, you should at least see the whole racial climate in SIngapore from a macro perspective rather than quarantining it strictly to a rigid dichotomy of Malays=dominating football, yet simultaneously be oblivous as to the larger economic-racial undercurrents operating in Singapore.

P/S: By the way, SAFSA used to have a few Chinese players. One of my close neighbours (forgot his name) played for them in the early 1980s but has passed away already. Used to get into football matches free in the old Singapore Premier League (e.g. Geylang United starring Zlatko Vidan, Tiong Bahru Athletic, Thyrwhitt Soccerites, Redhill Rangers) whenever I went with him.

My highest level of football came through a stint with the Marine Castle U-16s (now defunct, and probably renamed Sengkang Marines or something like that). The selector & youth coach was "Wak Dol", the man responsible for grooming Fandi Ahmad in his youth days. Again, "Wak Dol", a prominent coach with all white hair, has recently passed away 2-3 years ago.

It's funny how some people say Anderson and Scholesy play alike because I know they are both great passers, the do have some opposite attributes. Like...

Anderson can't shoot but Can Tackle
Scholesy can shoot but Can't tackle.

Yes my bad; re the employment climate in Singapore where employers stating knowledge of Mandarin is a must, which is as good as saying Chinese only.

Strangely enough..my friend Dilwant Singh used to get a few of us to play for his Marine Castle team back in the 80s, of course, that was before they became Sengkang Marines. I believe he has disappeared from the local football scene. The world is a small place and Singapore smaller even, so at least I am glad we are united in our love of Manchester United.

Hear, hear.

Despite our racial or religious differences, I'm glad that our fanaticism for United brings us together. Lets just focus on the fact that the footie season is about to kickoff again!!!Woo Hooo!!!As the Charity SHield draws near, I am beginning to wake up of the slumber that has taken over me ever since we hoisted the CHampions League trophy

Anderson was alright. Needs to start requesting the ball more often when his teammates have posession.

Anderson: Top Bloke!
A devoted young 12-year old Singaporean fan`s story has touched a nation.

Whilst the rest of his friends went to the Cinema, young 12-year old United fan Nishok made the long trek to see the Brazil national squad train in the torrential rain.

While the crowds spirit started to dampen the young boy made started to sing the now famous chant, "Anderson-son-son, he`s better than Kleberson..." .What came next couldn`t have been imagined in the child`s wildest dreams.

Firstly, Anderson waved and threw his boot up to him (which he would later sign). Then, as if it couldn`t have gotten better, the 20-year old signalled for the young fan to come onto the pitch were they had a surprisingly long chat. The young lad was in the gaze of 500 spectators and his story; which hit the front pages in his native Singapore proves that some footballers still have their feet firmly on the ground.

Here is Niskok`s story:

"I just felt that he should know that I'm his fan, so I started to sing. And the crowd was getting quiet, and I wanted to make it livelier".

"His gesture was something I least expected. I thought he was just going to come over and say 'hi'."

"His first words to me were, 'How are you, my friend?'. Then, he asked me to sing him the song again, so that he could hear the lyrics clearly."

"I will remember this for the rest of my life."

Anderson.....Top Bloke!
