Anderson is a young Edgar Davids
Not just because he's black, dreadlocked and left-footed.
Anyone care to discuss? Also, did anyone see some twat brushing his teeth with sunglasses on sat behind the United dugout? Some mad fucker sat there watching the football with a Toothbrush, insanity..... |

I saw the dude with the toothbrush. Honestly, it's not the first time I've seen it. A few times in Iraq I saw soldiers that were sitting at their desks doing the same thing, no toothpaste, just scrubbing their teeth. Can't be good for the enamel.
I think it's Kanye West tbh.

Will someone actually comment about the main subject of the thread?
On the thread, you may very well have a point, they seems to have similar engines, work rate. Will be interesting how Anderson will shape up for the future. |

Anderson had the better of Essien today, probably about 60-40. And we know he'd had Gerrard and Fabregas also, which begs the question why he wasn't used against Liverpool....
Here's that toothbrushing twat as well; |

Edgar Davids was a cultured defensive midfielder. Yes he had skilled and could do go forward with a certain elegance but he was a DEFENSIVE MIDFIELDER. Anderson is a hardworking attacking minded midfielder who happens to be shite in front of goal. He knows how to tackle and he can fend for himself but he doesn't have the mental discipline or the positioning of a quality defensive midfielder. Partner Anderson with another attacking minded midfielder (in a 2 men central midfield) and you would be asking for trouble.

I thought this... back in the lucas vs anderson thread i was going to throw out that lucas is someone who will be lucky to be as good as Bullard while anderson has the potential to be a future davids... but assumed i would get labelled a racist so I went another direction.

I'd like to see Anderson regularly putting in excellent performances in a two man midfield more regularly. I think he can partner either Carrick or Fletcher, depending on the type of game opposition. He's got the makings of a quality all-round central midfielder.

Apparently the geezer brushing his peggys wasn't a Cockney, but a very well known South Manchester gangster by all accounts.
Might be one of Browny's or Ravel Morrison's mates? I'd twat him..... |

He was rated by a lot of people as the best defensive midfielder in the world.
Despite being a left midfielder that went up and down the pitch. They liked his snazzy glasses and the skills he did in tv commercials. The most important aspects of defensive midfield play, obviously. I don't think Keane rated him either. |

Incorrect, he was regarded as it until Keane showed both him and Zidane up at the Della Alpi and went on to assert himself for the next few seasons as the best action midfielder in Europe.
What Davids had over Keane was an ability to beat a man; like Anderson, he started life as an attacking midfielder when he was with Ajax although it was quickly realised by some Clever Clogs (get it, Dutch, clogs?) that he was better utilised as a box-to-boxer due to his engine and tenacity, and he duly reverted to this role and had a very low scoring record indeed. |

Absolutely mate, he wasn't dramtically inferior at all and was in fact one of the best in that job in the last fifteen years, would have liked to have seen more of him in England but by the time he played for Spurs, he was past his best although showed glimpses...

The one midfielder I'd love to have seen play next to Keane for a few seasons. What a sight to behold. Opposing midfielders would have been shaking in their boots before each match. Really felt he was the missing ingredient in 2001 not Veron.

At his best Anderson is busy in a 3 man midfield but not good enough to hold his own man to man in the big games which argues what is the point of him. What did we pay? £18 million for a player who just works and runs and is a joke goal threat.
Peeps seem to have it in for Nani and are not convinced with Valencia but the problem is more central. Carrick and Anderson are just not good enough for United, |

IMO anderson is to inexperienced and onconsistant to operate in 2 man midfield, giving the ball away to much and not really enough of a goal threat to give him attackng mid role.
I think the best position for anderson is operating on the left of a midfield 3. Dear Santa please let this be so in january, we have all been good and just want to see uncle alex allowed to use the ronaldo cash. --------Vila-----Rooney -----------Silva Anderson--Fletcher--Hargreaves Evra----Rio------Vidic---Fabio ------------VDS |
