He's coming along well, I'd hate to play against him, there must be nothing worse than knowing exactly what he's going to do, but not being able to stop it.

Hes too strong to push off the ball, hes too quick to catch when he stops and knocks it in front, and if he can do both those things and put a quality ball in, there isnt much you can do about it.

He's also fairly useful in the tackle too, so more of a good thing for us!

Not suggesting that for a minute PM. It's just that Nani's stats still prove he's the best crosser at the club, yes I was surprised as well. Maybe he still has a lot to prove but the talents there and he does offer something different to Valencia.

I thought Valencia was immense last night but I still would like to see him impose himself on one of the big teams.

Valencia is in serious danger of becoming a world class winger. I remember seeing him in the last world cup and thinking fucking he'll he's tasty, then I just forgot all about him. Didn't really pay much attention at Wigan but the lad is the nuts.

Id add Berbatov to that, the number of times Berbatov and Valencia have linked well together with or without Rooney has impressed me, as a threesome they seem to be creating a rather fearsome attacking unit, it was noticable the number of times last night Berbatov,Valencia and Rooney combined to create our best openings, Add Giggs to that whos been our most creative player this season and you have a front 4 who are very potent.

He always looks angry. I laughed when he got flagged for fouling Spector, after outmuscling him in the box. He gritted his teeth and stared at the referee with disdain. Looked psychotic. Was great to see actually. He takes his football seriously.

He's bloody effective. I actually thought he was a bit rubbish in the first half last night bar the terrific assist. Spector did a great job the first 35 minutes, but Valencia stepped it up in the second half and he's pretty impossible to handle once he knows he can beat you for pace.

Safe to say he's been much better than what I expected.

I literally started laughing before he even took the shot, as I could only see two things happening. Either he actually scores with his left foot, which would've been a good laugh considering he's only used it about three times in his time here, or (more likely) he mis-hits it entirely. Unfortunately it was the latter.

He's starting to vary his game more, which is good to see. When he got here his main thing was receive the ball, sort of slow down a bit, then knock it past the defender and accelerate past him. He still does that but he's more aware of his fullback on his outside and midfielder on the edge of the box on his inside now (possibly due in part to a. New and Rafael playing alongside him - O Shea I still rate as an attacking outlet but he doesn't get as far forwards as the two I've mentioned and tends to cross from deep, and b. us using a system with more midfielders on more occasions than not).

I've noticed a few times that when he cuts inside somebody(usually Rooney) will make a run in that if Valencia played the ball with his left foot, Rooney would get behind the defense. Only time his lack of left foot bothers me.

I remember an air shot and a very tame shot. Good to see him trying to use it though, a bit more training on it and he'd have another weapon in his arsenal.

I love the guy, he is refreshing. You constantly hear and read people excusing diving and general idiocy by claiming all footballers are like that. But there is no nonsense with Valencia, not on the pitch, not off it. He doesn't dive about, he doesn't moan, he is quiet and appreciative. And if ever there is someone, tough as nails and hard-working, who'll make it back early from a shocking injury, it is him.

And that's without mentioning what a fantastic footballer he is. I hadn't seen him much for Wigan and wasn't particularily excited by the purchase of him. Well, he quickly convinced me. I can't imagine football being better than Kanchelskis on one wing and Giggs on the other. Not Barcelona, not Arsenal. If something has the potential to approach it, it is the new Nani on the left and Valencia on the right.

Without service Berbatov can't do his job. Before Valencia's injury Berbatov was scoring regularly, after Valencia's injury he scored a hat-trick against Liverpool and then hasn't had a goal since.

The difference between playing Liverpool and playing other teams is that usually Liverpool comes to play instead of employing negative tactics and looking for a draw. It was a more open match that allowed Berbatov some chances.

I do think this "new Nani" is only so improved because he's playing on the right. It's his natural position so he can play with more freedom. His creativity is stifled when he has to second guess his actions because his technique on his left foot is inferior. Less chance of him knocking in an early ball on his left. Surely you mean Rooney ? For this season, I don't think Valencia had an assist prior to outdoing Cashley cole in the Carling cup

I don't doubt that he's much improved. But playing on the left he will suffer. There are no doubts imo.

Really pleased to hear his rehab is going well but has anyone else remember that as soon as he broke his leg Fergie predicted a return in February?

Since then we've seen almost half a dozen articles promising a return far earlier than expected, due to a combination of revolutionary physiotherapy techniques and Valencia surprising all the medical staff with his amazing hard work.

All of which means he might even be back as early as...

the end of January...

One to give you food for thought.

I reckon he has been told he would be back by December or thereabouts. But SAF....to protect the boy has pencilled in February by the time they get his fitness, match practice and confidence in check. Also gives him some time to recuperate without any relapse. Means there's simply less expectation and hope pinned on the boy and its a target set by his manager as something to aim for!
