Class.
That's the spirit

We're so lucky that we're having Valencia back in perfect conditions after this injury two 18 months ago, for someone like Smith was this injury a way in the other direction.

He is an exact clone of Road Runner. Valencia will hopefully be up there with the very best Utd legends at the end of his career. Typical it was someone from Glasgow Rangers that nearly wrecked his career but so amazing to see him back as strong as ever.

Those Glasgow Rangers players, always ending player's careers in totally innocuous incidents.

Well I went overboard a bit there but Feckin Scottish football is more about kicking lumps out of each other than playing football so the risk is always there when you get drawn against a team from there!

I think he looks uncomfortable using his left, to the point where he uses his right at times where it would be much easier to use his left but he doesn't.

Of course many players have been great without two feet, it was just a suggestion.

Ringo, his injury v Rangers was an accident. It had nothing to do with the Jocks kicking lumps out of folk.

With all wingers fit and on form, I'd still pick Valencia first. Will be interesting to see how Fergie handles the situation when Young is back, Valencia is simply to good to rotate atm.

No he won't. The very best United legends are players like George Best and Duncan Edwards.

I love Valencia, but he's nowhere near that level of ability and never will be. Also, he's 27 this summer, and when his pace goes he's fecked.

thought his last injury was on international duty.

he did take a long time to come back from that.

and him playing right back did not help.

he is back to his best now.

I'd have to agree with you there. Young was a big money signing, and I think that Fergie would have had him in his first team plans, but I just can't see a starting place for him right now.

He wasn't getting in before his injury (not regularly anyway), there's no reason for him to get in above Valencia. If Nani's fit, I imagine he'd start, if not, then Young. One thing's for sure, and that's for the foreseeable future, Valencia is the current indispensable winger.

Not a good game from him, especially that we had huge expectations after his recent form. We've got to give some credit to Bosingwa, did really well against Valencia.

But...

It's great he's also such a good right-back. It helps a lot when we need to score, when we need to take off a defender to bring on a striker or another midfielder. He defends really well, but when we attack, he's waiting there on the wing, ready for the ball to cross.

Well done, Tony.

It was funny though cos he never really had a go against Bosingwa. If he'd tried to take him on and got beaten a couple of times, I could understand him losing confidence. But he just didn't seem to fancy it today.

Of course we can't expect him to be amazing every game, it's just surprising given the form he's been in and Cole being out.

Chelsea did well to close him down. And more importantly stop him getting one on one with Bosingwa. Sometimes you have to give credit to the opposition.

Putting him at RB was a good move. Finally gave him some space to run at. And ultimately was involved in the 3rd goal.

His unwillingness to have a go at bosingwa on the outside was surprising. Did well for the cross though once he had space having moved back to RB.

Strange that Bosingwa replacing Cole worked out against us as I think the former did a much better job that the latter does in dealing with Valencia's style of play.

Bosingwa was always about a yard out to his right hence limiting Toni.
Can SAF & the coaching team work on his left foot, i wonder.

Very hard to at his age so it's unlikely. It's insane how one footed he is given the standard he plays at. You just wonder how good he'd be if he actually had a left foot. I mean yesterday he had a perfect opportunity to shoot with his left foot and he actually moved a yard over it to get it on his right foot instead.

Bosingwa had him figured out yesterday, surprisingly.

I think it was also unusual for him to face a right footed left back.Kinda like changing your routine and adapting to a new situation whereas Valencia is the type of player who seems to have his routines and keeps using them

Yeah, he basically stayed 2 yards away from him at all time and never comitted to a tackle. Meant Valencia kept turning back and forth and couldn't get the space he wanted for a cross or to move inside.

Though I imagine a coach told Boswinga to do this as opposed to him working it out for himself.

Yeah, noticed that. Unlikely to improve much on his left foot at this stage of his career i reckon. that said, he is working on his game and its evident he's comfortable coming infield now.

Yeah, it was surprising though, really expected him to get the better of bosingwa. He does have his set routines but still manages to perform because of the sheer directness and pace of his game. showing him on the inside all game is something i expect most full backs to do more often though which is why he needs to add more to his game

I think that one of his main problems yesterday while on the wing was that he wasn't really getting a lot of the ball. He only got it on a few occasions, and actually caused some damaged when he did have it, such as that fantastic pass through to Rooney.

In terms of strength, speed, power and stamina, he's the best player in the side, almost as good as Ronaldo was. His run from deep for the equalizer, followed by a good cross, was impressive at that stage of the match. He gives the impression he can run up and down the right side all day. He's an interesting right back because he gets more space to run at the opposition defence.

His ball over the top to Rooney in the first half deserved a goal, Rooney really wasted the chance he created.

I love his passes over the top. Gives him a new dimension, and he's doing it regularly.

Never knew he had that kind of pass in his reportoire.

The beauty of bringing a player to United and watching them gradually develop
