Aon

This has come from someone i know that works at AON so something must be brewing, if this has already been the subject of speculation then i apologise !!

Press speculation
Over the weekend there has been speculation that Aon Corporation is sponsoring Manchester United Football Club. Aon receives many speculative comments about its activities and operations, and it is always our policy never to comment.

Obviously something big is going on - you will have seen the banners on the KE - and certainly people have drawn their own conclusions as to what this is about. All I am able to tell you is that it is an astonishing revenue generation opportunity being led by Aon Corporation and all will be revealed very soon.

In the meantime, as and when we are in a position to make any announcement, we will let you know asap as is our normal practice. If you receive any queries from your team please use the above message.

Regards
Charles Willy
UK Communications Director

So, have they got shit loads of money then? And will they be sponsoring any poorly worded commemorative banners?

Well, nothing could possibly go wrong with having a major global insurance and financing services provider sponsoring us in this current economic climate, so I'm all for it

It's alright, Brad. They do reinsurance as well, which is insurance for insurers. Clearly they'll also have their risks insured or is that reinsured?

That makes no sense to me, but if the Glazers can buy the club by using it's own assets, I'm sure it's probably true

Economics is just one big scam I swear

Well, it seems quite a secure way to go. Apparently this way, if our sponsor goes bust, the US government just pays for the sponsorship instead. Sweet deals.

That would never happen.

The US taxpayers would be in uproar plus we would be way down the list of creditors.

We would more likely get 83p in 2017.

Im looking forward to the revelation of this 'astonishing revenue generation opportunity '. For obvious reasons we seem attracted to financial corporations right now.

CockHammers prediction might be right after all.

Quote:
Manchester United are expected to announce the biggest shirt sponsorship deal in football history in the next few hours after agreeing an £80million partnership with Aon Corp, the American financial giant.

Current sponsors AIG, the American insurance firm, said in January that it would not be renewing its £14m-per-year contract after it suffered massive losses during the global economic downturn.

United always maintained they were confident of securing an improved deal when their current contract ends in May 2010 and The Wall Street Journal claim the contract with Aon is worth £20m per year over four seasons.

AIG will continue to have its name on the club's shirts next season, before the Chicago-based financial services company take over the sponsorship in June 2010.

A number of companies had been linked with the United shirt deal, including electronics giants Samsung and Saudi Telecom and Indian firms Sahara and Tata.

However, Aon now appear to have agreed one of the most prestigious advertising deals in sport.

Not really, I was suggesting that if we were sponsored by, say, a beer or electronic goods company, and they made massive losses, they'd be allowed to go to the wall, and we'd be scraping around for what we could get of the remaining money owed.

With these massive financial companies, the government won't let them get to that stage, so we're sorted. Chances are, if this lot are insuring the insurance companies as well as everyone else, they're probably even more important to the whole house of cards, so there's no chance they'll be allowed to fold.

Aon is an insurance BROKER and not an insurance company. Our income is commission. If Aon were to fall (which is highly unlikely at this moment as it is very very healthy company) there would be no rescue plans. On the other hand, as Aon is not an insurer they carry no risks like lets say a bank or insurer does. So Aon couldn’t be toppled by, lets say, the collapse of the US sub prime mortgage market.
