Amazing, amazing player. In the second half he brushed off Arshavin and the entire Zenit team like they werent there. I wish he could finish just a bit better because he could have had four goals.
No complaints though, the little Argie is well on track to becoming a Legend. |

Don't worry, we'll get him tied to a permanent deal. He was fecking fantastic tonight, easily our best out there and played the Zenit team on their own at times, just love the guy

You lot aren't actually serious about giving Tevez the captaincy right?
Still, i have a huge amount of respect for his attitude and desire to win, something that was missing from quite a few of our players tonight. One complaint i would have is that he holds onto the ball for too long, other than that he's a beast when on form. |

He's going to be unbelievable for us if he stays clear of injury this year.
I'm still not entirely convinced that it's possible to get the ball off him. |

CARLOS TEVEZ has promised his manager Alex Ferguson he will plunder the goals to fire Manchester United to further glory this season.
The Argentinian striker was mesmerised by his fellow countrymen as they won gold at the Beijing Olympics with a 1-0 win over Nigeria last Saturday. And now he has vowed to step up his game to ensure the latest crop of youngsters do not overshadow him. Tevez, 24, was the star of the show four years ago when his country won gold in Athens. Those dazzling displays catapulted him to fame — and last season he landed Premier League and Champions League silverware during his first season at Old Trafford. His 19 goals last term persuaded United to seal a permanent £32million deal — and Ferguson expects the former West Ham hero to sign a three-year contract in September. Tevez said: “There is nothing more beautiful to me than seeing Argentina play well and win things, so I was praying for a gold medal for our boys. “It will benefit me and Manchester United because I treasure playing for my country. “And I know from what I’ve seen in the Olympics that if any of us in the national team rest on our laurels, then these brilliant youngsters will have our places. “It’s an incentive to work harder and win things all the time. “I know how strongly the youngsters will be pushing us — given that the same happened when I won the gold medal in Athens. “Everything has changed radically for me since then and I’m signing on for three more years at United because I’m very happy in England. “I love the atmosphere in our dressing room and I want to keep on winning.” Tevez has developed into one of the most skilful players Argentina has produced since Diego Maradona. But the bullish United forward believes the Old Trafford faithful have not seen the best of him yet. He explained: “What I need to do is blend what my country wants from me with the different style my club needs from me. “The Argentina coach is trying to convert me back into the kind of striker I was before moving to England — a dribbler, a goalscorer and someone who saved his best for the final third of the pitch. “But playing here in England has taught me to sacrifice myself more for the team. “It’s hard to achieve both — but I’ve got faith in myself to reinstate bits of my original game into how I perform for club and country.” Tevez moved to England in August 2006 to join West Ham from Brazilian side Corinthians after starting his career at Maradona’s beloved Boca Juniors in Buenos Aries. Then after keeping the Hammers in the top flight with seven goals in their final 10 games — including a dramatic winner at Old Trafford on the final day of the season — he moved on to United. He signed an initial two-year loan deal but Reds boss Ferguson has been so impressed he is securing Tevez’s future months before the temporary deal comes to an end — and the striker could not be happier. He added: “When I signed for United I followed my heart, not my head. It was a good decision. “And I did precisely the same thing in deciding to make my contract at United a permanent deal when they offered me three years. “But I always knew I’d succeed wherever I played, there was never a doubt. Until now it never mattered to me that much where it was. I played because I had such self belief that I would succeed. “But I’m a guy who follows his feelings and I listened to my heart when the chance to sign on again at United came my way. “I’m happy and I get on particularly well with Patrice Evra at United, things are going really well.” Tevez’s team-mate Gary Neville believes Manchester United are bang on course for a Champions League double. The United skipper watched injured from the sidelines last season as Alex Ferguson’s side were crowned European champions. And the defender, 33, reckons United’s new ‘Holy Trinity’ of Tevez, Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo can inspire the club to pull off a repeat triumph. Neville said: “It’s a big challenge to win the Champions League in any season. But the way the team’s set up, with the players we have now, the way we attack is unpredictable. “From an onlooker’s position for me last season, that was the biggest change. We’ve got some players up front who can change games and you don’t know where they will pop up. “We’ve got a young squad, so there’s no reason why we can’t go and do it again. “We have to reach our standards and levels of consistency that we reached last season, and if we do that, then we’ll have a great chance.” http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...cle1626822.ece |
