Appreciation of Tevez

I've been watching some youtube clips and the season review DVD and I just wanted to comment on the brilliance of Carlos Tevez.

Quite a few people have accused him of being a little slow, not the tall striker we need, etc. but I'd just like to say that he is immense.

The amount of important, sometimes vital goals that he chipped in with this season (Chelsea, Lvpl, Spurs) amongst others, were crucial in the deciding of the title.

His combination with Rooney is one of the most absorbing and exhilirating things to watch on the planet, and his hard work and spirit, and obvious delight at winning trophies with us have really endeared him to me, and I'm sure a few others as well.

Anyone else have appreciations of our little man with the colossal spirit?

I agree, he's a true fighter.

Always plays with passion, character and has this never-say-die attitude which helped immensely in some games last season. And to be honest, that's all I can ask for someone playing for United.

Here's to hearing many more Arg-en-tina chants in Old Trafford !

thought he looked a little jaded the last third or so of the season. i am looking forward to seeing him next year with a good rest and a full preseason under his belt.

I didn't see what all the fuss was about at first. He lacks talent, and the killer instinct in front of goal. He is almost too human compared to many modern day forwards. However, in the second half of the season, when it all counted, he was fighting away with spirit and character and got us some valuable results through sheer determination. Legend in the making, and a great guy

Heres a quote on him after the Champion League final, me likey............

"Tevez tore and harried, niggled and hassled, snapping at ankles with the energy of a terrier puppy that had just gorged on the household supply of Pro-Plus. " telegraph

I just love Tevez, he's been immense for us. To come to a new club and get 20 goals first time around is superb, and considering he didn't feel fully fit the entire season. I can't wait for him to get a full pre-season under his belt, he'll be fully fit and raring to go. I expect bigger and better things from Carlitos this new season now that he's recharged his batteries

I was unsure of the wisdom of pairing him with Rooney. I would have preferred to see another player more like Saha instead. Faster, more clinical and playing further up the pitch.

Things worked out better than I expected on that score.

Needless to say there have been no approaches from clubs looking to give me my managerial debut.

Actually, no. I have enough trouble bargaining with my wife to watch United, let alone West Ham. She's slowly converting to United, from a football agnostic, so that's a step, but it'll be a cold day in hell before I spend a Saturday afternoon watching West Ham vs Fulham.

Hes great. Skill and ability in abundance, never stops working and fights for every ball. What more can you ask?

I just love watching him and Rooney play together. Its one of the reasons I don't want us to spend too much on a big target man. I'll be happy with someone who won't mind sitting on the bench, as I want Wayne and Carlos to start up front for us in most of our games. What a partnership

He's a striker FFS!! You made him look like Kuyt.

Here's a better one from SAF back in November : "He’ll get me fifteen goals this season, and what's more, they’ll be important goals."

Still not sure about his partnership with Rooney. Apart from that goal vs. Boro, I can't think of anything thats makes me call it a partnership, let alone a successful one. IMO, its more like two forwards supporting Ronaldo.

No, Fergie said he was looking at one or two players and there's no really need to look at Tevez who has been at the club for a year. Moreover his deal is a two-year loan which we cannot cancel after the first year, we will be able to seize a clause to make him our player permanently for £20m next year.

He's a fantastic player. We played our best football at the start of the season when Tevez and Rooney were playing in a nice little partnership, in my opinion. Hopefully next season we'll see more of it.

Hasnt shown his true quality yet and his goals have masked some performances that havent quite been there. But you never fault his attitude for working for the team.

Unfortunately for him, he'll never be the ideal partner for Rooney. But I hope we see the best of him next season, regardless.

He's the type of player that any fan would love to see playing for their club, not only has he got tremendous quality but he's got great work ethic and fighting spirit. He's the Argentine version of Rooney in those respects. We'll need a new song for our little Argie.

I can admit to being hesitant about him coming to us. I was very, very wrong. He's a great player with an absolutely fantastic work rate and attitude. The Rooney/Tevez combo is a joy to watch.

I couldnt agree more and i am sure quite a few others will do too. I guess SAF saw in them what none of us could.
