Ben Amos
Surprise start tonight, really expected Kuszczak to play.
I thought he was pretty solid, made a good save to deny Wheater. I don't think he could have done much to stop the goal though. Thoughts? |

Has a good command of the box which you don't expect from an 18 year old. Didn't have much to do and I suppose he only played because with VDS and Foster injured, we would be screwed if something had happened to PIG tonight.

Looked nervous, a couple of simple crosses almost bounced out of his hands again but not really tested by Boro tbh

So is Zieler the usual starter for the reserves (discounting Foster) still? I'm confused - Who is further ahead out of him and Amos? |

For the first time in a long time we seem very well off for quality young keepers. I believe Heaton is doing well on loan at Cardiff as well. |

Tommy K to play on Saturday and the positions his to lose thereafter i reckon, the timing of the injury i think is unlucky for VDS...saying that i do expect that Tommy K will drop a couple of clangers and VDS will be back in no time

I really liked the look of Amos. He has that trustworthy goalkeeper look about him that unfortunately I never feel about PIG. He's a good height for a keeper and looks confident and assured. I think he's one to watch.
It'd be good to see him really tested though. I don't think he made a save. |

Injury problems for Fergie could mean rookie keeper Amos playing against Bolton
By Sportsmail Reporter Last updated at 12:33 AM on 26th September 2008 * commentsComments (0) * Add to My Stories Add to My Stories Ben Amos Ben Amos could play for Manchester United against Bolton Rookie goalkeeper Ben Amos, 18, could be thrust into Premier League action for Manchester United on Saturday. Sir Alex Ferguson concerned over the fitness of his three first-team goalkeepers ahead of the match against Bolton. Edwin Van der Sar (knee) and Thomas Kuszczak (thigh) are doubts while Ben Foster is definitely out with an ankle problem. Amos played in United's midweek League Cup win over Middlesbrough. He has worked his way through the Old Trafford ranks since the age of 11. http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/sport/....html?ITO=1490 This is a slight concern. Not sure if Amos is ready for what is a crucial league match. |

Last time we handed a debut to a youngster (Pique), it was also against Bolton and didn't end well. Hopefully Amos does the job if he's picked.
