I dont see this comparison at all. Maybe this one should be revisited when we have seen Berb play for us. Even once or, dare I say it, for an extended period before we start comparing him to one of the best players we ever had.

Don't really like to compare anyone to Eric so I'll wait till the end of the season at least.

There will never be another Cantona.Amazing that some are comparing him before he's even kicked a ball for us.

Who needs Berbs to do that now that Sir Alex have begun spouting frazes like:

"I love you all! I have come to spread peace!"

Yes, but when he said that it was like Don Vito Corleone saying 'I don't want any trouble'.

Can we please refrain from constant 24/7 fait accompli comparisons between Cantona and a player who hasn't even suited up for us yet?

kthks

Good point
I have no doubt he will be a success but how can you compare a legend against someone who has yet to kick a ball for us in a meaningfull match.

Hope he can influence the kids i.e. nani, anderson, fabio, rafael, foster, wellbeck, campbell and evans too. Rooney and Ronaldo are still kinda young, mind. Hope he has a great training discipline and ethics.

that's good but I think many will feel God's name (song) shouldn't be taken in vain - perhaps if he's looking worthy, it'd be good

Last night, with "that" little bit of skill, I finally saw a little touch of Cantona in Berbs.

Happy days.

Everything went through Cantona(in the final third). I actually think Ibra and Berbatov have more skill, but not his presence.

months later I still agree with myself lol. yay

I still think he'll come into his own in Europe, especially away from home.

I think there are similarities but berbatov will stand out in his own right. He's improving, not 100% yet but he'll give us a new dimension to our play and evidently help us fashion chances out of nothing

Would help if he got envolved more. I think he's brilliant to watch at times, but you get the feeling he's always playing within himself. I'm not saying he should run around like Roy Keane. That said, it's not easy when you've got Ronaldo, Tevez and Rooney all wanting the ball, all of the time. But I still think he's got the Cantona about him. Cantona also used to fade in and out of games.

I know what you mean. It is quite like watching eric at times. Hopefully he'll get more involved when it matters. I think he'll win a European cup with us. I'd like to see us going anywhere and him showing his ability. I think that's what we need because we can't always rely on being solid at the back. happy days

Id have Tevez over him in big away matches. Id also have Park ahead of Nani

You are a toilet trader! Go with it boy, give into to it. It's like a tide. Don't let it ruin your youth as I nearly did over Eric.

what in europe or the league?

Well that's the thing isn't it, opinion. In europe away from home i'd have berbatov and rooney or tevez or maybe even all three.

Berbatov would be the ideal man to put the midfield forward I think but we're lucky in that we're talking about good players here

Berbatov is creating and will create loads for the team! That's a truth and a conviction respectively...

Far far far too early to tell. You're asking for a guess, not a prediction.

There are many that have more skill than Eric. But there just not Eric.

For me, Berbatov will have to do a lot more over many years to be mentioned in the same breath at Cantona.

Berbatov might score more goals. He will not have the same influence on the team or the fans.
