Besides, am I the only one who feels that was Tevez actually suggested was that nobody should turn his back on Ronaldo because of his will to join Madrid rather than that Ronaldo should be sold immediately?

As I commented in that other thread, the Tevez comments sounded a lot worse when spun by the UK press than in the Spanish version of the alleged interview.
But it's like most aspects of the press coverage, it only takes a phrase omitted or the odd word subsituted to make a comment sound very different. Take Tevez from AS: "I understand Cristiano Ronaldo. Every footballer wants to play at Real Madrid. On the other hand I also think that everyone wants to play for Manchester. If what he seeks is something else, I think that should be respected. " All that needs to change is for that last phrase to become, "I would respect that," and it's about how a player sees another player, not how a player thinks a club should treat a player who's under contract. There's lies, damned lies, and almost quotes! |

Looks like Tevez not only didn't say those things but thinks pretty highly of us vs Real
.http://www.mailonsunday.co.uk/sport/....html?ITO=1490 Real cheek! Madrid tried to lure Tevez from United as they courted Ronaldo Last updated at 4:44 PM on 26th July 2008 Comments (0) Add to My Stories Focus: Carlos Tevez Carlos Tevez rejected overtures from Real Madrid this summer because he was happy to commit his future to Manchester United. Tevez will sign a four-year contract with United at some point over the next couple of months now talks over his ownership have been concluded. The Red Devils have agreed a £32million fee with Tevez's owners, who are no longer MSI, for the Argentina forward. More... CLICK HERE FOR ALL THE NEWS ON UNITED FROM ACROSS THE WEB Payback time for Djemba-Djemba: Eric proves he's not a spent force 'Carlos Tevez's economic rights are owned by a third party, based offshore but this is not MSI," confirmed Tevez's long-time advisor Kia Joorabchian. Tevez's initial arrival at Old Trafford was dragged out almost until the start of last season as the Premier League satisfied themselves over a loan deal for the striker, even though it was almost identical to the one which saw Javier Mascherano leave West Ham for Liverpool. But the 24-year-old created a hugely favourable impression at United, leaving Sir Alex Ferguson in no doubt he wanted to sign the player permanently. ow that move is almost complete, although not without some interest from elsewhere. While there has been no comment from Tevez's advisor Kia Joorabchian or United, it is believed two clubs approached the South American, one of whom was Real Madrid. Given Real have spent most of the summer attempting to lure Cristiano Ronaldo away from Old Trafford, keeping Tevez has been well received at United, offering them a chance to show to the Portugal winger they intend keeping all their star players as they look to retain the Premier League and Champions League trophies. |
