Nemanja Vidic can be taller if he won't to, but then again he has no need

I'm glad someone has taken the time to take a more mathematical view of the situation.

I blame the pies that rooney eats. Its clearly preventing him from growing taller by weighing him down.

That's the most ridiculous arguement ever!!!!

It's clearly the pies that he doesn't eat that are the problem. He needs to eat ones made with lighter fillings.

If Ronaldo and Rooney where both tall buildings, Osama bin Laden would have no problem in choosing which one to send aeroplanes to.

I can assure you that will have nothing to do with some dislike of the British or Anglo-Saxons in general.

If you want to be scientific about it they're actually the same height. Due to Einstein's theory of relativity and since Ronaldo is faster than Rooney he shrinks when travelling at top speeds. However since Rooney is a scouser that makes him shorter by default. However there is a clear paradox within this argument that has already been pointed out in this thread; since they are in different positions then their actual height can only be judged relative to their position on the pitch and not a universalising theory.

Has anyone mentioned that Peter Crouch is taller than both of them?

Clearly, VDS is taller than both if you ignore the Dutch argument which would make him 3ft 6 although I'm not really sure I buy that one. Play VDS up front.

Peter Crouch, like Liam Miller, is an optical illusion

It's best to leave what's known as the "Crouch Factor" out of this debate. He's an anomaly.

As for the Dutch factor it's hard to ignore. If you take a teleological approach to human evolution then eventually given the right socio-economic conditions everyone will be Dutch and we will live in a classless utopian state in which everyone is the same height.

yeah great. we get to wear ridiculous wooden clogs and "borrow" someone elses bicycle.

on the other hand with their relaxed laws regarding prossies and dope maybe I'd get to like those shoes.

Indeed, the wearing of the clog is a small price to pay for global harmony, an enhanced connection with the human spirit and, most importantly, cheap and high quality drugs and hookers.

Let me refute you there robthered. Actually, the idea of human evolution is not theologicaly accepted nor is it even scientifically acceptable. The simple answer is through the soul. All living things do have souls and on the other hand, non-living things do not. Clearly a plant, an animal, and a man cannot have the same kind of soul? It is taught to us human beings that these three groups of creatures, though somewhat united due to the presence of life, have different souls. These souls are immutable and therefore cannot be transfered or evolved. And so the idea of evolution suggests that us human beings came from animals (apes) which is impossible because this would cause our immutable souls to brake through their boundaries of immutability which is clearly impossible. Hence evolution is incorrect. Now if your evolution merely meant the evolution of humans as in the "progress of mankind through the ages", than i have wasted time and i am trashed. And right now im probably sure thats what you meant..... Now, aurevoi my fellow chaps, i've got an experiment to conduct in the laboratory..........

Regarding the Crouch factor, I think that whether you take an evolutionary view or a theological view is irrelevant. From an evolutionary viewpoint, Crouch is clearly an anomaly having become Dutch ahead of his time and shoud be ignored. Theologically, by playing for Liverpool he has sold his soul and is an anomaly in that respect also.

Ronaldo plays on the wings while Rooney plays further ahed. You always view Rooney behind Ronaldo and hence he looks shorter.

That is exactly why Crouch seems tall but is actually shorter than Barthez.

Rooney may be shorter than Ronaldo, but that is all down to the way he was handled by Sven at the World Cup.
