Darren Ferguson

Finally Fergie admitted that it is his son. Weird that he has named 2 sons Darren though. He's turning into a decent goalscorer though. Can he get 7-8 goals this season?

Here's what Richter's referring to:

Fergie Pleased With Win, Admits Striker Concern

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson praised match-winner Darren Fletcher among others following the 1-0 win over Portsmouth and admitted he wants to be is not hopeful of adding to his squad in the final week of the transfer window...

The Red Devils recorded their first win of the season at Fratton Park this evening to put themselves ahead of Arsenal and just two points behind Liverpool and Chelsea - the only teams with perfect records - just two games into the new Premier League season.

The injury-hit champions put in an improved performance from their opening day draw at home to Newcastle United. Ferguson expressed his pleasure at the style in which the win was attained and praised Anderson, who had just arrived back from the Olympics and put in a fantastic, energetic performance in midfield.

"I think we played some excellent football tonight," Sir Alex told Sky Sports. "We really relied on Anderson's trust in himself, after such a long journey, he wanted to play and I think he showed it was a good decision by him.

"Historically, [Fratton Park] is a difficult place to come. Last year we drew here, the year before we lost, so it's a bonus win if we consider last season and the previous season.

"We tried to get a system where the players we had would be comfortable in their positions, i.e. Anderson central, near to [Carlos] Tevez in the spaces behind the midfield. [Paul] Scholes, trying to control the game - which I think he did - then the qualities that John O'Shea and Darren Ferguson [Fletcher] bring," continued the Scot, accidentally referring to the goal-scorer Fletcher by the name of his son, Darren Ferguson.
Fletcher has often been criticised and ridiculed for not being good enough for Manchester United and that he only plays due as he is a fellow countryman of the boss, but with his second goal in as many games from making striker-like near-post runs, Sir Alex has nothing but praise for his performances on the pitch. "He does make these runs, he made a great run in the second half also, got to the byline, squared it for Wayne [Rooney]," said Sir Alex. "He's got fantastic energy the lad, and I'm really delighted he's getting the credit he deserves."

When pressed about new signings, with the coach having said in recent weeks he is after a striker, he admitted a slight concern over their inability to bring in a player of their liking. Dimitar Berbatov remains their prime target according to the press and indications from Tottenham Hotspur would certainly suggest a move is imminent, but with just a week left in the transfer window, Sir Alex is not so sure.

"There's only a week to go and you start to concern yourself a bit," he explained. "I think we showed tonight that we've got a good quality of players here, we'd like to add obviously, but we'll just have to wait and see what happens with that."

Maybe Fergie considers him as being a son now? That accidental slip just brought the truth out.

7-8?!! Are you nuts? At the rate he's going, Ronnie's 42 is under threat by Fergie's son.

even Ronaldo would struggle to match that tally this season.

You should have created a new thread about Ferguson admitting Fletcher is his son. The article is a few posts above yours Don't have to thank me for the idea
