I thought Fletcher was pretty good for Scotland, admittedly it was only Liechtenstein but he seemed a lot more confident with the ball at his feet than he has done since he's returned from his mystery illness. He was knocking a few long balls and diagonals, there were also a few decent first time balls, I think he only misplaced 2-3 passes.

Already a thread on it a bit down the page, apparently it's bollocks. But I wouldn't be surprised if it happens at the end of the season. He has been sick for too long now, he has probably lost a lot of muscle and energy that he would never be close to the same again. He is 28 years old as well, so at the end of his prime, I have a feeling that we have sadly seen the end of fletch

Feel so bad for him. As if missing out on 2 Champions League finals wasn't bad enough being forced to retire at the age of 28 would just be tragic.

We'll wait and see,' Ferguson told MUTV, when asked whether the 28-year-old would feature during pre-season.
'The boy's trying very hard to get back to his level. It's not going to be easy but we'll give him every possible chance and see how he does.

Optimistic: United boss Sir Alex Ferguson
'He kept himself active towards the end of last season. He replaced Scholes as the reserve team coach when Scholes decided to come back into the fold.'

Doesn't look too promising tbf. Recent picture of him at Wimbledon, looks pretty bad

Poor Fletch. I think we should look to replace him and then any return from him is a bonus.

All that matters right now is the guys health. Fuck the football.

I just hope he doesn't return too early.

If indeed the time has come, at least he went out top of his game. We could sure do with a Fletcher in the team though.

Heard a rumour that Fletcher has retired. No official source. I hope he's given a role at the club.

Would be a bit of an odd day to retire. Surprised Scholes hasn't tried to slip away unnoticed.

As apparently you only need 5 appearances now to qualify for a league medal and he has 4, what's the chances of him making a one minute cameo appearance against WBA?

Where'd you get that number from? As far as I know the club are now given a fixed number of medals and we can distribute them however we see fit.

I don't think Fletcher would really care about the medal tbh.

Fergie apparently confirmed that Fletcher will be getting a medal this season.

Got a speedy recovery wish from SAF today in his final speech. I have a very strong feeling that we will still be seeing Fletch running around in red some day soon.
