It was mentioned in the Norwegian PL-show that van der Sar's weight was 12 kilos(don't know how much that is in british scale) more at the end of his career than when he started.
That's substantially more weight, which would've helped him in some areas. |

Well in De Beard. Lindegaard has it tough to try and displace him if he stays on this form.

Commentators were tamer on him today. Spoke alright about him before the game. Doing only good against Chelsea and now Liverpool will have good effect I hope. |

The positive thing for him with Lindegaard out is that he surely has to keep playing and improving his overall game. It will take time for him to adjust and deal with English football better, but throwing him back in at the deep end should bring quicker benefits.

Good save, but c'mon if it had gone in it would have been a massive error
But I was pleased that he did seem more assured in his kicking today. Apart from that he had feck all to do |

Looked much more confident today, and put in a good performance to show to him.
The accuracy of his distribution is just exceptional. There was a moment in the first half where we won a throw-in on the left hand side, and he pinged the ball out of his hands straight to Evra's hand, he didn't even have to move an inch. Myself and the people around me in the Stretford End loved it... |

It seems any goal he concedes is seen as an "error" on his part. People don't seem to realise that a goalkeeper doesn't always save the ball. He was solid today, but then I never have any worries about the lad. He is very calm and composed and really has a fantastic big game mentality. His reaction to the handshake incident made me proud of him especially.

I agree with Randall, that was the sort of save you expect your keeper to make. Pretty much straight at him. Didn't have much to do today, all of Liverpool's set pieces were hit away from him.

I'd say that his performance today summed up the sort of goalkeeper he is at the moment, in all honesty.
He displayed his weakness of not knowing when he should go for the ball and when he should stay, but he also showed us his undoubted shot stopping ability as well. |

The things he is lacking in, his decision making at times, will improve with experience and age.
He has the talent and the reflexes. Those are harder to 'learn' Rather have it this way than the other way round. |

He's poor at aerial balls being crossed into the box. It's a gaping hole in his game at the moment, and it's something that he obviously will work on over the next few years. A slow but steady improvement there is all we can hope for.
He's pretty bloody good at everything else already. |

I'm actually with Randall on this. It's a save any 'keeper worth his salt should make- fairly central, nice height. That said, he dealt with it competently.
I think he's going to be a cracking keeper for us over the next few years. He's not especially tall, but his hands look huge and he's got long arms. He's already a fine shot-stopper, good reflexes and great with the ball at his feet. His timing and positioning for crosses needs some work, though. |

I agree. He saved it well. At first I wasn't really bothered with Johnson shooting with his left outside the box. But he managed to get some power on it. But DDG made it look easy and I think he probably thought it was a no biggie save as well.
It's a nice save for a keeper to make. You look good on tele and you can brush it off like it ain't no thang without being cocky. |
