Top class already. Saved our asses many times this season. Quietly putting together an impressive run without any mistakes.

Even when the mistakes were happening, we were without Vidic and looked defensively inept as a whole.

Only going to get better too.

With the form he is in, I don't get why we are being linked to Bergovic.

Because the media now think Lindegaard is away.

If I was Bergovic I wouldnt come here, he would end up on the bench, he should go somewhere he will play. But then footballers always seem to have more self belief than me.

Thanks Cina. We've certainly come a long way since the first conversation we had. The first one I remember us having, anyway.

I guess the problem with DDG is latent talent that we will perhaps never enjoy.

I cant believe he will spend his entire career with us. The attractions of La Liga will soon be irresistible, at say aged 27, just when he was entering his peak, with

Sure, we'd make a load of money but it would be frustrating as fuck given the technical investments and effort the club had put in. If he fulfils potential (I think he will), sadly he is unlike most of our players in that there will be superior options for him after Manchester United.

Still, I would want us to keep him. Though he still makes a few errors, he is already an asset and will only get better.

I have no idea why we are being linked to some random goalie from Stoke, though I guess our greatest ever keeper was plucked from the relative obscurity of Brondby!

You also have to consider that both Barcelona and Madrid will be looking to invest in goalkeepers within the very near future. Barcelona are due to sign one this summer, with a 20 year old ter Stegen being the rumored target, which will be a long term project similar to de Gea.

Casillas is a Spain and Madrid legend, probably only just entering his prime, and will be in Madrid for several more years. de Gea wouldn't sign on as a backup.

Just playing devil's advocate.

You can also argue that he will want to remain here. Everyone is different I guess. Maybe he might want to emulate Schmikes and make a name for himself at OT rather than back home in Spain. I tell you what, it is more impressive for a player, if he goes to a foreign league and makes a name for himself, because he has to overcome bigger adversities like language, culture, physicality, style of play etc. Back home you know the league, how its played and everyone knows you. In a foreign league, you have to prove yourself more to the media and the fans.

By the time De Gea even thinks of moving back to Spain, Barca and Real will hopefully already have signed they're replacements for Valdes and Casillas. I'm talking at least five years down the line here. Once those two stay away, I'd be confident of him ending his career at United.

Maybe its paranoid, maybe Im just damaged by the Ronaldo experience, but I always think Southern Europeans find it hard in the UK and would rather be at home if the opportunity arose. So I can easily see DDG leaving when he is in his prime.

Perhaps you're right but would we have been better off having not signed Ronaldo and going for a British talent, more likely to have wanted to stay? Not a chance...

Sign the best you can, nurture them into the best they can be and worry about everything else later.

DAVID DE GEA last night vowed to snub Barcelona and stay at Manchester United

The Red Devils goalkeeper has been linked with a switch to the Nou Camp to replace want-away star Victor Valdes

The Madrid-born star said: “I know things have been said and written but I have a contract. I’m very well in Manchester.

“It is not just my name that appears. At Barca, Valdes is still the keeper and Madrid is my city, one day I’d like to return.
“But now I hope to stay in Manchester for a long time and win a lot of titles.”
The 22-year-old has come under huge pressure since joining United in July 2011 but paid tribute to boss Alex Ferguson for helping him to live with the criticism.
He added: “Sir Alex is more than a manager. He controls everything in the team. He’s a father for all those who come to the club. For that he is the best.”
De Gea’s recent form has been so good that he has been called up by World and European champions Spain.
Vicente Del Bosque’s side have a World Cup qualifying double header at home to Finland tonight and away in France on Tuesday.
De Gea said: “A footballer has to get used to good and bad words.
“At times things are said that don’t make a lot of sense and it is part of the job to know how to live with that. The best thing is to know who you are always.”
Something else De Gea and United have had to live with is being knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.
The Spaniard insists Nani’s ‘unfair’ red card let Real come from behind and win 2-1 at Old Trafford earlier this month.
De Gea revealed: “Sir Alex has a lot of character and on that day he was very angry, although deep down what he felt more was pride for his team.
“We were superior to Madrid and deserved more but there were situations — unfair decisions and we were knocked out.
“Football is like that and in that type of game details leave you knocked out. The expulsion of Nani marked the game and the tie. Without that red card it would be Manchester United in the quarter-finals.

Always think he comes across very well in interviews... seems like he's an intelligent bloke. We will probably lose him to a Spanish side at some point... but that'll probably years from now.

You just know that eventually he would want to go back to Spain, I just hope it isn't until he's in his thirties.

Hopefully Barcelona and Madrid have great keepers themselves for years to come so that De Gea would not want to leave. But then he's said Madrid is his city which rules out Barcelona yet he's an atletico fan which should rule out real. Who would he go back to?

The longer he lives in Manchester the more adjusted he will become to it all too. The worst case scenario is that he eventually leaves to go back to Spain. There are many other scenarios where he could start to feel a lot more settled, learn to love the culture, etc.. and want to stay, ala Reina.

Spain's papers will of course be linking De Gea to their clubs for as long as he is here. If Joe Hart played in Spain our papers would do the same.

It would, but I'm not greedy. Having De Gea for 14 years should be fine. But hey if he wants to stay til he's 38 then who am I to argue with that.

I think when he first come and his "mistakes" and all the stick he got in the papers etc.. has kind of helped him in a way. He'll be thinking life is much better here now and so should be a positive - whereas if he had it easy coming here and then turned on him in a year or twos time it might of then made him want to go to Spain.

Ruud said he wanted to go back to PSV, Tevez said Boca. Neither happened and I wouldnt be surprised if De Gea never goes back to Atletico. Its all about the timing and oppertunities, I'm sure if DDG can stay here and win title after title he will do so and the only worry would be if Atletico suddenly topple Barcelona and Real Madrid to be the top team in la liga and then say we'll give whatever you want for him

I think Tevez still does want to go to Boca. Either way, yes everything is always circumstantial with players and it all depends on how he adapts to the weather and culture in the country. Lets face it, it's not exactly the greatest in the world but he won't have been the first player to leave warm climates to come here so hopefully if he can continue his rich vein of form and completely settle that the goalkeeper position is his throne like VDS and Schmeichel did before him then I don't see why he'd need to leave.

Lets face it, being number 1 at any major club is a big honour and I don't think top keepers move around as frequently as other positions so hopefully he's here for at least ten years. He doesn't come across as the type of player that will feel the need to go competing in all the big leagues so Spain is our only worry in that retrospect. But even then, he said Madrid is his city so why would he want to go Barca, and he's an atletico fan so why would he want to go to real?

Hopefully he'll just want to go to atletico when he's much older and stay with us for most of his career.

Well Tevez is 29 so even if he moves to Boca right away at the end of the season, if DDG stays till hes 29 and then leaves would that be dissappointing? I dont know. I'm sure we'd be richly compensated and find a good solution, like we did with VDS. But I'm sure DDG will stay a long time

I'm not worried about Real Madrid. De Gea seems too loyal to Athletico to leave for them lot. Barcelona? Maybe. It totally depends on who Barca use after Valdes departures. If they stick with Pinto, then maybe it's just a stop-gap for a potential move for De Gea in the future. If they bring in a decently young+experienced chap, then I'll feel more confident.

But I fully expect De Gea to stay with us for another 5/6 years or so, at the very least.
