His kicking accuracy is fucking supreme. That one out to Hernandez was unreal.

I think we are in a great position with keepers, I would have either De Gea or Lindegaard as our GKs for the next ten or so years!

If you were watching the Canadian Sportsnet feed, they took extra care to compared De Gea with Lindegaard, complete with random stats and footage from De geas first few games (mistakes to Shane Long and Walcott) and Lindegaard saves vs Benfica. Then they went on to say how Michel Vorm is more like a United keeper and was much cheaper.

It was bizarre, infuriating but then Gary Dobson and Craig Forrest are idiots anyways.

So they did not see his howler against Arsenal?

De Gea has been fucking excellent since the Bolton game, the fact that anyone is criticizing him is absurd.

Edit: Also this made me lol

He's even starting to look assured on crosses and corners. Going to be a fantastic keeper for many a year.

I dont feel even in the slighest bit nervous about him now, and i think the whole defense is getting used to him behind them. Aside from a couple of errors at the start of the season he's been probably our most consistant performer.

So thankful SAF has an eye for talent. All these knobs would have never brought him. The beauty in trusting in youth

Most impressive performance thus far today I thought, distribution was as good as it has ever been, his coming for crosses and his punching was faultless. Made 1 good save also.

He was well known over the last 18 months so we didnt exactly unearth an unknown like Hernandez.

I am thankful Real and Barcelona didnt need a keeper over the summer.

He looked very good tonight. And is growing into the role. I am getting far less nervous about him that I was

Only thing I worry is when Madrid or Barcelona needs a replacement keeper eventually and start sniffing around him. Other than that, he's brilliant.

Very, very pleased with this guy. I'll even overlook the my-first-beard because he's so classy.

He was probably the only available keeper in the top bracket, quality wise, great job by the staff.

I didn't expect that he plays sooooo well in his first season because

- He is only 21-years old, we all know that is "the age 17-18" of a outfield player
- He is away from home for the first time in his life (He has only lived in Madrid so far)
- He plays his first season in the best league in the world and the toughest league in the world for goalkeepers
- He plays for one of the best clubs in the world

I really love Edwin Van Der Sar and he was one of the top 3 goalkeepers for us but i don't miss him in the goal to be honest..........De Gea is such a lovely guy AND he is already so fucking good.

I stand corrected. Guess for the most part, from a british mentality, most people wouldn't necessarily have him right off the bat. Especially due to his size

He was always considered a top prospect through the ranks, representing Spain at international level at tournaments. Spain seem to have quite a few goalkeepers (Casillas, Valdes, Reina, De Gea and so on) that aren't the biggest but are agile and good football players as well as goalkeepers.

That is something that maybe is under-appreciated in this country by academy set-ups.

He is one of the best young goalie out there. Good handling, reflex, agility and distribution. The only thing he lack is height and command. But he is young and classy, and will only add more to his strengths with more experience.

De Gea could potentially be better then all of them. His distribution is certainly better then the Madrid and Barcelona players.

Well as a former Atlético Madrid player it's very unlikely he'll want to move to Real. I think with so many talented players around his age group there's no reason he won't create strong friendships and a strong bond with the club. I'm not worried at all, De Gea seems a very humble and mature young man. Also if he needs to feel more at home I'd be more than happy if we bought a few of his Spain U-21 colleagues.
