Ok, Im confused.

See how we are in £700M debt, where the fuck has this come from?

The Glazers borrowed it to buy the club. They then transfered the debt from themselves to the club they owned (although I believe I read in MUST read that they may have transferred some back to the holding company for some reason).

Forbes says United is worth $1.8bn that is around £915m

So you are right abouth that number, as far as Forbes can be trusted.

It's a mistake to obsess about the debt. It's not unusaul for businesses to be taken over via debt. What's important is the direction they subsequently take. So many debt-free businesses are so because they are excessively cautious. It's not unlike the parable of the talents (but then I'm an atheist!)
