That would be as soon as possible. Thanks for agreeing.

Meanwhile, Evans has shown that he is plenty good enough to take his place, on a short term basis. Which we saw against Chelsea and every other time he's played this season.
He's impressed me with most of his performances this season. Coming on in the semi final certainly wasnt one of his most impressive ones though.

And I'll repeat, it doesnt matter how good he plays against Inter, Vidic will be back into the side. O'Shea had a fantastic game against Roma last year, so it does happen now and again that our fill-in players come in and do exceptionally. But Vidic and Ferdinand is our first choice defence and Evans will have to do a lot to displace one of them this season. It would be a great start for him to play exceptionally in two ties against Inter, not giving Zlatan a sniff. But just a start.

Did you watch Pique last night? Shite, wasn't he?
I only saw the goals. Barcelona's defence is usually pretty iffy.

Evans seems a bit cumbersome and slow on the turn for me. Not a great distributor of the ball either. I don't really see the Rio comparison.

He's a brilliant distributor of the ball.

It and his positioning are his, and Rio's, two biggest assets.

Of course Evans won't take Vidic's place in the first-team. That would be absolutely mental to suggest. Almost as mental as feeling the need to mount an argument about why this won't happen (never mind repeating it ). But Evans can and will step in to cover for Rio or Vidic, with little or no affect on our defensive solidity. Which speaks volumes about how good a young defender we've got on our hands.

Well done to SAF for letting Pique go and giving more opportunities for young Evans to shine and to feel like he really is part of the future of the club. Yet another excellent decision by the gaffer.

Will be a quality player for us in years to come.
That's the thing that got to me about Pique... he's supposed to be a great prospect but never seemed relaxed on the ball. Evans looks potentially every bit as classy as Rio, and I've no doubt he's got what it takes to become a regular.

He looks for the long option too often. Rio's great asset, and a strength of the team, is that he can bring the ball out with his feet or make short passes into midfield. Evans isn't as comfortable as Rio in this department.

If anything he doesn't look for the long ball enough.

Throughout this season he's played incisive, short passes through the middle of the pitch that you'd expect someone like Carrick to make.

Creates space and means the receiver doesn't have to do any of the work.

His distribution is brilliant.

We'll agree to disagree then - As we seem to do a lot I notice!

Nonetheless, he is a talent.

Yeah we do actually, not sure why.

A fantastic prospect, must have given him massive confidence when Sir Alex said he was nailed on to become first choice for us some day.
