Not away at Sunderland. Al-Muhammadi had been very good in the last month or so.

An out of form Evra is still better than most left backs in the league including Fabio. We need Evra to play himself back into form.

Fabio has not exactly grabbed any of the little chances he has been given. He has yet to really impress. So I dont think there is any hope of him nicking Evra's spot for a big PL game

He was one of the better players against Rangers and also played well against Chelsea in the Charity Shield this year.

He was also really good on his debut vs. Spurs. He's rarely had a performance which was under par, but the big issue with him is that he still has so little experience.

Only 5 starts when even his brother has 25 starts. So thats why this season is quite important for Fabio because if he isnt getting the experience under his belt at United, he'll consider going elsewhere. Having said that I'm sure with each new experience Rafael faces, the first person he tells all about it is his brother. So he will have picked up a few things just from watching and talking to Rafael.

It makes you wonder if Evra is indeed Captain Scarlett, he never ever seems to miss a game through injury.

Apparently they live together with their older brother who looks after them so I'd imagine they would find it difficult to move apart.

Fletch said in an interview yesterday that their English is improving and they are part of his poker school.

Well Fabio talked keenly in the summer about moving to a club like Sporting. I'm sure he meant on loan. And he said he'd be fine away from his brother.

Hopefully instead of it coming to a loan move like that, he'll get plenty of chances for us at left back and covering right back. But he needs to be looking at getting somewhere between 10-15 starts this season if he's really going to kick on and iron out any issues he may have as a young player playing in our backline.

Isn't Fabio married? He and the missus would most probably move together if he went on loan.

It's a bit worrying that he doesn't get more playing time, at his age competitive games is what he needs.

Still, the season just started, SAF seems to prioritize a stable back four the first weeks in a new season. Fingers crossed he can stay clear of injuries this year.

They are both married now I think.

If he stays fit he'll get more games this year.

He's made 10 starts, which isn't terrible considering he's never fit. He'll get chances if he avoids injury, he knows that, so there's no real point moving. It'd be real nice if he finish a game though.

Rafael has 39 starts, and 8 off the bench, so he's coming up on his 50th United appearance. He's near enough "made it" I'd say, and we have to be confident that his brother can do the same.

I'm a bit worried about how rarely Fabio plays and the effect that would have on his development. At this stage he should be offering serious competition to Evra for the left back spot, or at the very least be our undisputed backup. At the minute I'd say we'd be more likely to see O'Shea at left back ahead of him.

To be honest I think he could do with a loan, perhaps in January. He's at the stage now where he should be playing a bit more regularly, especially when Evras forms been so erratic this season.

He's 19 it won't have a major effect on his development. Serious competition to Evra? c'mon now. Patrice is one of the best fullbacks around on form. He'll be working hard behind the scenes as will we to make sure his fitness is right, to make sure he's stronger. I wouldn't worry about it. It's very difficult at the minute to break into the backline but his time will come i'm sure. If it doesn't, then someone better will come along

He is just unlucky that Evra is our number 1 left back, if Rafael was our left back choice it would be the same thing.

Im not too sure, look at Rafael hes had plenty of games for us and looks a quality player. I think much is down to those early "acid" tests where he learnt from it and hence became a better player for it. I know just because they are twins they arent going to develop the same but whenever i see Fabio play he is clearly behind Rafael in terms of development.

I think its pretty important for 18-22 year olds to play enough football for their development, and i assume coaches see that as well because they usually send them out on loan. Still Fabio is unlucky in respects that we have Evra a world class LB while Rafael had a aging Neville, injuried Brown and limited Oshea to challenge him

He should certainly play more - that is the reason why Rafael has come on so well, and to be honest, I'm not sure why SAF doesn't rest Evra more as Fabio could do the same given the chance

Can't see Evra being the only reason Fabio isn't getting games.

It's looking like Rafael is our first choice right back now, but when he's injured Fabio could play there if he was considered ready.

Fabio's right-footed, I can't see why he can't play right back too.

Evra has been utter, utter, dog shit this season. Give the lad a chance.

Its shit like O'Shea, Gibson and co. who are stopping the players with actual talent from coming through. Fabio, Eikrem, Pogba, Morrison...we got some good players, and 7 spots on the bench. Don't need utility men anymore.

Clear out required.

Evra definitely needs a rest; you don't have to be a genius to see that. Give Fabio a go, instead of O'shea.

They are 16-19 years old no where near ready for first football, i agree they should get their chance at some stage but in the case of Progba and Morrison they are no where near ready imo - even if they do look the business in the reserves/academy

True but with the current lapses in concentration by our defence/midfield which lets teams in SAF must think giving youth a chance is more risky than usual.

I thought the kid looked fantastic against wolves in the cup without doubt our best defender with I think two goal saving tackles where on the right flank Brown was getting ripped. Since we seem to rotate the right back slot a lot maybe a oppertunity to give him more game time would be to alternate him in that position with Rafael.

Having said that I would like to see Rafael more settled and playing more regular at right back.

I agree. One of our best players on the night against Wolves, and I think he deserves more chances, especially when it's looking like Evra is in dire need of a proper rest.

Has shown that there is life after Evra if he does decide he wants to leave in the summer.

I think tonight was probably his best game for United, I'd love to see him get to play on Saturday as well to get a little bit of momentum but at least he'll get a start next Tuesday against West Ham.
