Make no mistake about it, the appointment of the next team manager will be probably the most important appointment in the history of the club. We can't afford another Frank O'Farrell. It took us about 20 years to replace Sir Matt properly, and the board really have to get this right when the time comes. |

I know exactly what you mean, but judging on last season alone, maybe he's less 2 dimensional than we might have thought ?! |

Queiroz all the way for me. After that I'm not sure.
Not many out that there that have both the mentality(in terms of 'United' football) and the personality. I guess Queiroz for a couple of years and then we'll know alot more about Keano. Wouldn't be too bad to have a kind of overlap between those two. |

I think Roy Keane has an outstanding chance if he continues to do well for sunderland, either that or CQ. Whoever takes over SAF eventually should have spent time and learnt enormously from him. It's no coincidence there are now 4 Permership managers who played under SAF before. They definitely learnt something from his style of management to be where they are today.

I think CQ has to do something very special with the Portugal national side to earn the right to come back to OT and take over from Fergie though... he's practically got to win something with them. If he doesn't then maybe he's not good enough for OT. He's already failed at the highest level once.

i previously held the opinion that SAF's successor must be someone who's won silverware as a manager, as this is realistically the biggest club job on Earth.
i always said i'd love to Keano take control but not until he's won a trophy in the top flight as a manager. however, developments this Summer have made me change my viewpoint slightly, and i now want Keano, and only Keano for the job. |

Caf views on possible Fergie replacements!
I will give you five realistic candidates for Fergies replacement and I would like your views on each one!
Carlos Queiroz The obvious choice in my mind but there are United supporters with reservations! Mark Hughes Former legend but has since distanced himself from the club, would instill a hard nose attacking team and seems to be attracted to high profile players Not sure he has the tactical nous yet to win the big games! Martin O'Neill Tons of heart and works hard on team ethics and spirit, let down by the lacklustre talent he chases in the transfer market! Would settle for middle of the road british and irish players who fit his playing style than go after top talent in europe! His lack of ambition in the transfer market would hurt us! Jose Mourinho Would bring United success but at the expense of our attacking philosophy, would be interesting to see if we would stake our beloved tradition of entertaining and flair in order to win more trophies! I guarantee he would be the Glazers number one target! Lets see if he opens up his game at Inter in the next few years but I doubt he will David Moyes No nonsense disciplinarian very much in the Fergie mould. Is let down by his style of play but has worked relative wonders with the tight pursestrings at Goodison, if we want a Fergie mark 2 he might be the man but his tactics and style of play arent the prettiest! A good sound option and might be 3rd favourite behind Queiroz and Mourinho |

Carlos and Sparky are not choices anymore. Jose or Keane

Chelsea didn't play too bad a brand of football when they had the 4-3-3 going in the first 1 or 2 seasons of Jose I reckon.
I reckon with the players we've got Mourinho would be near enough or just as attacking as Fergie. He'd be my pick, however unpopular this view is. ![]() |

Red Cafe.
MUFC will be the first ever football club to be managed actively by its fans, via a one-nerd-one-vote system. Implementation and real-time decisions such as matchday substitutions will be carried out by an upper chamber of ranking caftards, themselves also elected by we - the masses. But team selection before the game, transfers, OT extentions and youth development will all be conducted with explicit reference to posts and polls on this forum. |

Fergie said that it is difficult for Carlos to return to the club because he signed a four year contract for portugal.
There is no way a city manager will directly move to United. So, the only possibility is sparky gets the sack at city in a season or two, which rules him out too. |
