Future signings for United
None for at least the next 3 transfer windows, I reckon. Providing we can hold on to everyone.
And thank the fecking Lord for that. It will be an absolute pleasure to spend a summer without giving a shit about tribal bollox rumours, accusations of tapping up, constant arguments about everyone we're linked with and why we absolutely must sign x, y, z - all ending up in the grubby spectacle of middle-aged men on internet message boards telling teenagers about how they've got their hard cock in their hands. I like a bit of banter about transfers as much as the next man (as my 500 odd posts in the Berbatov thread prove) but I'm done to death with all that shite now. SAF has created a sensational squad of footballers who will get better and better for the next two seasons, without needing to spend another penny. Happy days ![]() |

We could look at a left winger as Giggsy will retire within the next 2-3 years. I'm not sure about Nani, he's quality but so frustrating and inconsistent.
I'd keep an eye on a certain Jeremy Menez. He's just moved to Roma, but immediately came out and said how highly he still regards us. If he's a hit, I wouldn't count out a move for him. |

Except some young talents, I dont think we will buy new players, not just because we have a great squad, but also because we have spent a shitload of money and cant afford to overspend

I hope Giggs will retire come the end of the season and we'll bring a new winger in. By then though Nani should have cemented his place in the first team so the new winger will only be a squad player not a mega signing.
Apart from that I can't see any obvious problems with the squad provided we keep hold of everyone and the youngsters like Fabio, Rafael, Evans, Possenbon all develop. |

Hopefully there will not be that much activity in the next few years with the squad being so young and talented. This group of players is capable of being successful for a long period. Any gaps in the squad which arise could be covered by Rafael, Possebon etc and further youth players in a perfect world. We will see if it actually happens.

I think if someone like Benzema becomes available we will not want to miss the oppurtunity, and obviously none of us know if Foster of Kuszack are good enough to replace Edwin, but we have the luxury of having one of the most complete squads in world football and a relatively young squad to boot.

It's a bizarre idea that we're not going to buy anyone for three seasons
For a start Ronnie will be long gone by then. Plus we could well be in the market for a right-back... okay Rafael might make it, but he also might not, his defending looks well ropey to me. Plus Giggsy's getting on and we will need another left winger. And our centre midfield is weaker than Chelsea's and Liverpool's, we have very good players there but Scholes won't last forever, if a player with passing ability, goalscoring and a bit of oomph and authority comes on the scene we'd be crazy not to try to get him. Building a team never stops. |

I'd say:
Goalkeeper: Is Foster/Pig upto the task of replacing VDS? Right Back: Rafael has a shout here, but we have only just tapped the surface with him. Left Winger: Still question mark over Nani, I think he'll make it. Right Winger: Ronaldo probably won't be staying therefore we need to identify a replacement just in case. Minor quibbles though as our youth should be given a chance to claim positions that come available. In my opinion only Ronaldo leaving will upset the balance of the squad, although we would be short of a winger if Giggs retires. |

Yeah, probably not.
A guy can dream, eh? And if nothing else, there won't be anything like the same sense of urgency. Fergie can take his time indentifying who he needs and sign them at any time over the next few transfer windows, with a view to bedding them in gradually. I reckon our next transfers will be a lot more like Nani/Anderson and a lot less like Berbatov/Hargreaves/Carrick. Which is a very good thing. |

I know we cant over spend but it does look likely ronaldo will move to real madrid that should finance two wingers. However, right now how they are this season would he want to move.
I hope real finish 5th, dreaming I know but wouldn't it be great. |

I think we'll have problems scraping up the money to tie Tevez down. Don't forget a whole load of bills for Rooney, Carrick, Nani and Anderson, among others have just come due after we won the double last season.

Obviously we wont need anyone in January but in the summer its all about our wingers.
Will Ronaldo leave? Will Nani step up? Will Giggs retire? Will Hargreaves become the new Saha? I cant see all those issues working out the way we hope so another winger will probably be our next signing. |

I think it is an exaggeration to say we will not have to buy anyone for the next 3 transfer windows. We must improve all the time and if there's a chance of signing a player who would enhance us it is always welcome, especially as our rivals don't intend to stand still and make no signings.
If we want to be there to compete with the best teams in the world then we have to attract the best players in the world and make them sign for us. G Neville is hardly getting any younger, neither is Giggs, so I think replacements will be needed. At the moment though, barring lack of depth in defence, we are a complete team with great squad and no need of further strenghtening. |

There'll be signings as there always are.
We'll need another wide player soon, with Giggs likely to retire and Ronaldo likely to bugger off. Scholsey and Gaz wont be around too much longer either. Plus, other players leave/turn shite, and need to be replaced. Then you have the possiblity of a new manager, with different preferences. Football never stands still, so no club aiming to be at the top can ever afford to either, or they just get left behind. |
