Gabriel Heinze - Hero Of The People

http://skysports.planetfootball.com/list.asp?hlid=294340&lid=2&cpid=8&title=Heinze+hun gry+for+success&channel=football_home

Gabriel Heinze is hoping he avoids 'second season syndrome' as he looks to further his reputation as a crowd favourite at Manchester United.

The Argentinian full back excelled in his first year in England, going from strength to strength after scoring on his debut at Bolton Wanderers. Indeed, the United fans voted him their Player of the Year.

Bolstered by the confidence in knowing he can cut it at the highest level, the former Paris Saint Germain star has Chelsea and Arsenal in his sights.

"Now I know I can perform in England," he told Sky Sports News. "But I will keep on showing, week in, week out, that I can do a good job for the club.

"I want to keep being allowed to play most games and keep learning from Sir Alex [Ferguson].

"To be at Manchester United is amazing, it's even bigger than I imagined. Old Trafford is magic, wonderful.

"I never thought I could get to such a massive club.

"The whole place is hungry for revenge after last season.

"We can't wait to face the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea to put things right.

"In this case, I have the passion of a little kid."

I just love it that he said 'revenge' when the others would have said something mundane like 'success'! You've just got to love our maniacal Argie.

Btw TDO, "Hero of the people"? Sounds like a commie title.

"Sir Alex Ferguson's Red and White Army"

"Republik of Mancunia"

Fergal did some worker's organizing in Govan before turning pro. He's now a Champagne Socialist (tongue firmly implanted in cheek ).

Working class support an' all, I'd say this club is steeped in Commie tradition, Comrade.

Da Komrad, I stand humbly corrected. I will now use my long forgotten hammer and sickle to perform some form of manual labour for the benefit of my fellow workers. You wouldn't happen to have the address of one Rio Ferdinand, would you, both implements could come in handy.

Did you not catch that bit in the rags over the weekend about the MEC paying Rio a visit at his home in Alderly Edge a couple of months back?

In short: They asked him what his fucking problem was and he told them he wants to stay, the contract numbers in the papers are nowhere near being right and that's it's "other issues" that have to be sorted out and are holding things up. Also, he said he'd never join Chelsea because he's from Peckham. The story had been going around for awhile, it seems, but only just hit the papers. The MEC has pictures of it (allegedly), but others claim they weren't nearly as threatening as they make out and he obliged everyones request for autographs by the time they left.

Funny story

Legend status? After one good season? If we did that for every player, Tim Howard would already have "attained" legend status. Don't get me wrong though, I love having Heinze in the team, but legend status is a little bit pre-mature. People are attached to Heinze for the same reasons people are attached to Smith, they play their hearts out every time they step on the pitch and that is something that anyone should respect. Heinze is a great player to have at United and I hope he is here for years to come, but legend status must be reserved for a few more seasons.

Funny story
Funny, allright. Especially the bit about signing autographs for the MEC members. Didn't know about it though, ehsanul obviously didn't post the story. Damn that boy, he's slacking again.

Did I tell you about the tickets I had bought for the match in HK? Wanted to be there and shout at least this- "Sign the damn contract Rio, even we Malaysians think you're a cunt!" Couldn't go because of some prayers to be held for the dearly departed mate and so sent someone else instead with express orders to do the deed. He claimed to have done just that before the stewards at the stadium told him to behave or be thrown out! Apparently it's not part of the 'Asian Culture'.

International man of mystery, I am.

All I have to do now is call in a favour from my old clients in Japan and...

"Lio-san! So solly but you are a cunt. Arigato gozai-mas."

I'm getting bitter in my old age.

Did Howard win player of the year in his first season?

Heinze in his first season won Sir Matt Busby player of the year and also best player as voted by his fellow utd colleagues.
We shout 'Argentina' at all our matches (something we didn't do with Veron).
I also have a season ticket at OT and have seen Heinze play at close quarters and therefore IMO Heinze has attained legend status.

But you are entitled to your own opinion of course.

I don't think Howard was player of the season, he was however named in the Premiership XI of the season.

One of my best Heinze moments is the way he whacked the ball during a CL match against Sparta Prague against the post when no one really expected it. That is up there with those full blooded challenges week in week out our warrior gifts us with. Great player. He will get his revenge next season.

Best value for money for a long time. And that's why Rio doesn't deserve the wage he's asking for.

I think this shows are people who we might think that are loyal to the club are actually juz playing for the money....
It just shows that anything can happen, and that we are naive to expect that players(especially not the home grown ones) would stay loyal to our club....
Players such as Evra and Anderson may be loyal for now, but you never know what could happen in the future...

I never rated him as footballer. Surprisingly even in his first year.
