I just saw your location...

TV is the worst place to watch players without the ball, mostly showing ball carriers.

Wide as the football pitch?

PS: Cameras generally follow the ball.

For someone who has a reputation for being a bit of a stubborn cnut you've got to give props to the Chief for softening his stance on Carrick.

As for Hargreaves, I have no doubt his performances in midfield would have improved at the same rate as his performances at full-back. It's all about getting a run of games under his belt, not about the position he's been asked to play. Has everybody already forgotten about his underwhelming debut as a full-back?

To sum up:

A new signing, in first season at a new club, in a new league, attracts initial critcism before improving as the season goes on, once he gets over a series of niggling injuries and has a decent run in the side.

Who'd have thunk it, eh?

Here's another blindingly obvious factoid. He's gonna be even better next season. Which pleases me.

That was kind of the joke, and now you ruined it.

That's a fair assesment. He has improved from his initial non-displays, but not to the extent some are trying to make out.

Here's to the next season.

So the Anfield game, the Emirates game, the Roma game at OT and the Blackburn game at OT never happened right?

Don't mix issues Sultan. I was clearly talking about the Roma game at OT. The game in which he was man of the match and started in midfield.

Frankly your judging him is never ever objective. Because you have decided in your mind he is basically average at everything he does. No matter how well he plays

Or maybe the only place Carrick can play is deep.

Sort of changes the Football math going on here.

Maybe Carrick is playing deep not because he does it better than Hargreaves, but because he has shown that he is incapable of performing anywhere but deep.

This then becomes a question of not who is the absolute best player for the position, but what makes the team the strongest over all.

If Carrick is a B player as a holding midfielder and a C player in a more advanced role and Hargreaves is an A player as a holding midfielder and a B player in a more advanced role, what gives us more value?

The same rational is lost on many here when Hargreaves slots in at RB. Obviously because Hargreaves can play RB arguably better than our first choice right now it means that he is total shit in the role we got him for. Right? Or maybe it's because we have adequate depth at CM and nobody else on the team that can do a job at RB while Wes has to play CB?
