in terms of long term importannce to our club.

IF one of em had to go I'd prefer by miles to keep Rooney. So put that in your posting pipe and smoke it....

One thing you have to consider in all this is that Ronaldo is not a native of this land and is merely plying his trade in the EPL. At the moment he is enjoying his football, enjoying his surrounding though there might come a time when he fancy seeing what spain or italy has to offer and who could blame him. Don't get me wrong, i would love the kid to stay and would happilly attend his testimonial though wouldn't fancy trying another type of football and living in the sun at some point in their life.

I rate Sir Alex Ferguson above them both as he will have the biggest say in the long term improvement of our team.

Hope this helps.

I rate rating players above one another as worse than rating their suiability to playing together..

This year is Rooney´s year. He´ll be the top scorer in PL, and become player of the year.

Rooney may well be here for the longer term than Ronaldo, may well be more important to our long-term development, but that's clutching at straws in terms of 'rating Rooney above Ronaldo'. That's very loose footing to do so, either come out and say Rooney's a better player, or don't say you 'rate him higher'.

Many people just judge Rooney on his goals but he is a fucking amazing talent and has more to his game than Ronaldo does. Everything is good about Rooney apart from his finishing, if he could improve his finishing then he would be the best striker in the world, I have no doubts about that.

He has more facets to his game, but in my opinion, is not necessarily as exceptional at them as Ronaldo is at what he posesses. As i've often said on here, you can't compare players by who ticks more boxes than the other. A player like Lionel Messi has a handful of top class strengths, but is ridiculously good at them, and better than Rooney, or Deco, who are good at more things than he (Messi) is good at.

If the only basis is that Rooney may well have a longer-term future with us, then fine.

So is that the criteria you use to 'rate' players? Or have you just decided that Rooney will win if you score it by this means, so that's what you'll do?

perhaps you also rate Brown over Vidic

I guess you are worried that Ronaldo could become too good a player for the club and move to Real/Barca while you are glad that Rooney will possibly never be that good to attract a serious bid from such clubs.
