For different reasons though, where as top Italian talents avoid moving abroad because of the national team selection issues the same is, however, not true for English players. Very few of our players are good enough to attract attention from the top continental teams.

Not really. I doubt an English(British) player at United would want to move abroad. Giggs had the chance to move to Barca, but he was never interested, sure he was a fan, but someone like Rooney fits the same profile. And a good talent at any other English club would probably be bought by a top English team. Same goes for Italian players, they prefer the Serie A. In fact it's rare that you see talented players from the best leagues move abroad at a young age or at their peak.

I hope both stay for the rest of their careers, both have the potential to be amoungst the best players in the world for the next ten years and if we continue to be successfull both should want to stay. We are growing a great team and those two are obviously very key to that.

On the other point British players clearly have the ability to go abroad, someone mentioned Giggsy had the option, Scholes did too with Inter, Beckham of course went to Madrid and Keane (although not British, Irish) could have gone abroad, but why would you want to move uprooting there families when they can have success here. Some of our fans are anti-British players, sickening really.

Who do you love more, your Mom or your Dad?

That is a question I can't and won't answer.

Which is how I feel about these endless stupid threads asking me to choose between Rooney or Ronaldo, or which is more important to the club, Scholes or Giggs, or which is the better defender Rio or Vidic, etc. etc.

It is useless and pointless to choose between them!

People can rate who they want as the better player. But it is retarded to 'rate Rooney ablove Ronaldo' because he may stay at the club for longer. What's that got to do with anything?

I dunno, i reckon it's harmless amongst ourselves to debate who we think is the better of any our two players. As long as we support both of course, it doesn't mean we can't see if one is better than the other, and given that they are both very good young players, the comparisons are natural. It will probably happen with Nani and Anderson too, Rooney and Tevez once he joins. It doesn't mean we want the loser of the debate to be sold.

I guess you are worried that Ronaldo could become too good a player for the club and move to Real/Barca while you are glad that Rooney will possibly never be that good to attract a serious bid from such clubs.
Are you listening to yourself?! Do you know who we are?!
We are Manchester United for fuck sake. Not West Ham, or Tottenham or any of those other mid-table wankers that try to cling on to players who are too good for them.
There is not one player on the planet who is worthy of using our club as a mere stepping stone to greatness. No-one is bigger than our club.
If Ronaldo leaves then so be it. It will not be because he is too good or big for our club. We are just as big, if not bigger than any of those overseas clubs you have mentioned.

For what it's worth, i think Rooney is the best player we have. He is brilliant at everything he does. On song, he dominates the pitch.
If we had won the Premiership in 05/06, Rooney would've been in the top 3 for World Player of the Year. He was just that good.

Exaggeration at it's best.

Even if it were true, that doesn't make him better than Ronaldo. Incase you hadn't noticed, that isn't a feat that Ronaldo can't match, we DID win the league this year, and Ronaldo will amost certainly be in the final shortlist for the honour you mentioned.

I had the priviledge of watching United with Law, Beat and Charlton with paddy supplying them, now 40 years later I am lucky enough to see them with Giggs, Rooney and Ronaldo with scholes suppling them ---------you can't get luckier than that.

Why is it when i say something positive about Rooney it must mean it is negative against Ronaldo?
I realise and appreciate that Ronaldo is an absolutely wonderful player. But i think Rooney is more complete. I think it would hurt us more if Rooney left than it would if Ronaldo left.
Rooney can do literally everything very well. I know Ronaldo can but i believe Rooney has higher peaks of excellence. This is obviously very debatable so i'm not going to say that i am right or wrong because there is clearly no right answer.
