It was a terrible pass from Carrick which put O'Shea under pressure. I knew this would be brought up.

Sometimes O'Shea just looks like a non-league player.

Decent squad player but limited footballer at times. Feet are like bricks.

It was a simple mistake, could have happened anyone & he wasn't the only one to make one tonight anyways.

Over all i thought he had a decent game against a tough enough opponent in Gutierez.

Don't criticize O'Shea on here, he's Irish. Thus you're racist.

I dont think the result was down to him tonight.

Though for games like tonight, it would be good to have a forward with a little more going forward.

Nani wouldnt pass to him, despite O'Shea making good overlapping runs.

In fairness to him, he ran his balls off tonight. Sadly, at least for the first hour, was never used.

Oh fuck off you smug tosser.

O'Shea hardly did anything wrong tonight apart from miscontrol a crap pass from Carrick. He got forward at every opportunity, providing width and support for first Nani and then Valencia. He made a good few probing passes and runs, most notably towards the end when he played in Giggs in the box.

He was outpaced once or twice by Gutierrez but on the whole defended well and didn't do much, if anything wrong.

Everytime he plays it highlights how much we miss Rafael, O'Shea on the ball is a catastrophe waiting to happen, the most simplistic things he struggles to do is quite astonishing for a premier league pro.

He's always capable of that. In the final third he was pretty good otherwise. He found space in good positions and provided decent crosses into the box. On another day we might have scored a goal from his efforts.

Did anyone else think he was in for a roasting after the first 1 or 2 times Gutierez ran at him? Thankfully he did alright, but i thought he was in for a terrible evening

It was only a few days ago he was being praised for his pass to Giggs for Hernandez's goal. Nothing wrong with his passing that day. Nothing too wrong with it tonight either.

I thought he had an alright game, where have I said otherwise?

I was making a joke, which I'm sure regular posters (especially the Irish posters) would get.

I thought he was fine tonight, in fact I thought it was alright game coming off the back of an absolutely crushing defeat.

Had a nightmarish first half, better against a knackered Jonas in the second mind.

Had an ok game. If Nani hadn't been in "infuriatingly selfish mode" O'Shea would have actually got into some excellent positions in the final third.

Great idea for a thread though. We dropped points so we need to make sure we cover our bases, scapegoat-wise.

I don't really see the point criticising O'Shea. We all know what to expect from him. He's not a first team player but a dependable squad player. Tonight was a typical steady but not spectacular performance.

I would have liked to see Fabio come on personally but that's no criticism of O'Shea, I just think Fabio would have been better suited to the game.

His performance wasn't helped by the fact that he ran up the wing at every chance and was left to stand watching by Nani.

He played no worse than the others, get over it.

Indeed. I've said this about Nani before, only to be berated by caftards, but tonight Nani was driving me mental (I'm a long term Nani fan before anyone starts).

Against the big pacy physical Jonas? I don't think so myself & I've a feeling thats why O'Shea was picked to play there too.

Can someone teach o'shea to make proper overlapping runs...or the principle of one/two's or "pass and move"....so often he just passes it off and stands there like a statue......then there are times when he takes such an age to get up there to support the wing man, then winger's surrounded by the time JOS gets there..solid at the back, but offer's nothing attacking wise, especially when you're trying to win a game.

Though, it may be a case that he's instructed not to go full pelt that far up the pitch, we'll never know.

TBH I agree with this.

Nani missed quite a few easy chances to put O'Shea in for a cross.

And surprisingly O'shea is a very good crosser of the ball.
