Join the Manchester United Supporters Trust for Free

The Independent Manchester United Supporters Trust (MUST) are having a membership push and are giving those who can't afford the normal membership fee the opportunity to get membership FOR FREE.

For those who don't know about MUST, they were set up under the name of Shareholders United back in the 1990s and their aim is to realise supporter ownership of Manchester United. Currently we, the supporters, are paying for Malcolm Glazer to purchase our club, through increased ticket prices. Why not buy it for ourselves?

To find out more about MUST and to apply for free membership, click here:

Say if one had shares in SU but didn't do anything about them once the takeover happened are they automatically a member of MUST?

Yes you remain a member, but not a full member cos you've not paid your subs. But make sure MUST still have your contact details.

Living in the UK has advantages and disadvantages. On the plus side you get a comfortable climate, a free health service, a good music scene and pub culture.

On the down side, fags and petrol are very expensive, the women aren't great, we're run by a bunch of cunts and we've not had a summer for about 2 years.

Any more questions?

If you've still got money in the fund then unless you have withdrawn you're membership you'll still be a member (albeit not a full one). We've not taken your money and ran!

Nope, the pack's for full members (only a tenner!). But there are other freebies and offers you get (should say more on the site).

If I put money in the Phoenix fund, will they be used for anything else than a takeover bid?

If no, why can't I just wait until such a situation occurs before I chip in?

Good question. No it won't. The money in the fund (and the interest accrued) doesn't belong to MUST - it belongs to the members. That said, the clubhouse will most likely be an investment from the fund.

As for waiting until that situation occurs, you're perfectly welcome to not contribute (although we'd prefer you as a full member of course) - hence why this membership offer is FREE.

What do member benefits include? And what will any money actually do? For me there is absolutely no way the fans will be able to buy out the club, if the Glazers were thinking of selling, some Billionaire would come in and continue where he left off.

We are already buying the club! Who do you think is paying off the interest payments for the Glazers?

Fan ownership of clubs like United and Liverpool is feasible. Ironically the Glazers have demonstrated how you can buy a club with hardly any money whatsoever.

I understand what you're saying, but there is a shedload of moneyto be made out of United, a billionaire won't stand by and let the fans takeover. All he needs to do is up the bid by a few million and you'd struggle to raise the extra funds.

If we get to a situation where the fans are in a position to buy the club, no-one will be able to stop us. We'd more-or-less be able to name our price.
What investor would try to come in and buy the club away from its own fans? It'd be financial (and possibly physical) suicide.

Anyway, we're getting ahead of ourselves. Do you have any reason not to join? Not as if it's going to cost you money and you can always resign your membership.

Don't get me wrong, I respect what you're doing and if one day the fans are in a position to buy the club, I will happily chip in with what I can afford.

Signing up now

The fans owning the club would benefit United because we wouldn't be running the club to make a profit for any owner. We'd purely be running it for success on the pitch and for the fans.

The more members MUST has the better. Obviously if we're making a bid for the club then money becomes the issue, but at the moment it's not the most important thing. There are a number of offers that are financially beneficial for both MUST and new members but that's not the reason for this push.
