No he wasn't. Didn't occur to me till after the game, probably been left out as punishment by SAF for giving that interview

Or he got a knock playing for NI.

I'd assume it was something like that.

But the Sunderland fans are so desperate that us discussing them discussing it has become a discussion point for them

The Man Utd fans don't want him to leave but seem to be worried he might end up moving on.
Jonny Evans

They've got this thread on their radar and are now also discussing his no show.

It's not going to happen. Fergie already let Pique and Silvestre go. No way Evans is leaving.

Evans is under contract until 2011 so we're under no pressure to make a decision on his future.

Lets see how things go this season and if he still wants to move on next summer then we should let him go.

Evans was originally listed among the subs in the match thread (above) so I imagine he got injured in the warm-up. As ridiculous as this sounds, it does seem to happen a lot.

''gerrydaly'' later admitted that he had made a mistake and that Evans was not in the original list.

Evans concern for NI qualifiers

Jonny Evans appears to be Northern Ireland's main fitness worry for the World Cup qualifiers against Slovakia and the Czech Republic.

Nigel Worthington has named Evans in the squad for the 6 and 10 September games but the defender is not training at the moment because of a hip injury.

As a Manchester United player, he doesnt have that "aura" and he is big size but not intimidating. Pretty much slows the game down whenever he gets the ball. Unsure of himself.

I note this hasn't stopped you forming a very negative opinion of him.

Out of interest, what would it take to "garner your attention"? Step-overs?

For the record, he is extremely comfortable with the ball at his feet and his use of the ball is excellent. In fact that's one of the most notable features of his game. He doesn't slow things down in the slightest.

Of course, you would have noticed this already, if you'd paid him more attention.

Seeing as he is a defender that is one of the most ludicrous statements I have come across in this forum.

Evans is a class act.

If SAF says he'll get games then i'm sure he will. He'll be first choice ahead of Brown these days as i really feel brown is now first choice right back (well it's not a feeling it's just a fact).

So with Brown playing at right back i think Evans will come in at center half whenever Rio or Vidic are injured which will happen as both of them always get injured at some point.

It's getting to the point where Evans wouldn't look out of place starting in our back 4, though clearly he would be an inferior option.

I'm quite excited about him. He seems to play consistently brilliantly.

I was at the match

In all honesty Keith Gillespie had a better match

But Evans was fantastic, Baros in his back pocket, Evans is pure excellence

Going to be tough for him in the new season even as a squad player, with O'Shea in front of him.

O Shea won't be in front of him in central defence though.

I hope he gets chances this season, he looks like a class act from what I´ve seen.

If he plays in the Carling Cup game, that should be a great test for him. Boro have some good strikers.

Seeing as he played 15 games in the Premiership for Sunderland last season, under the constant pressure of a relegation fight, a Carling Cup match against Boro hardly qualifies as a good test. Maybe for Possebon, or the twins, but not Evans.
