FFS Lee Sharpe played for a season or two in Iceland. Not exactly the biggest celeb around.

I liked Lee Sharpe. He really pissed career away to a certain extent though.

He was a good player for us and will always be remembered as such.

He could have achieved so much more if he hadn't gone down the Georgie Best route of "Bitches and booze"

to be fair, many of us would've done the same thing. for all the shite and stupidity that is attributed to the modern footballer, you have to be very committed and have that drive and single mindedness to make it to the top. quite a few young lads have the talent but no where near the discipline. its not all fun and games. sharpey was brilliant, and it was sad to watch him not hit the peaks consistently and as long as i thought he would.

But those who constantly slate him because of his off the field stuff (no where near as bad as bestie mind you) are ultra hypocritical IMO.

I was probably being a bit harsh on him really. He was very unlucky with injuries as well. He had 8 clubs in 8 years after United though!

I can top that, a couple of weeks ago i was at the airport looking after the 68 team who were flying to Ireland for a celebration meal, and the ` king` turned up without his passport so i volunteered ( did not take much persuasion) to drive him back to his house to pick it up, had a good chat about all things United, and even got a signed photo of me and him together, and took him to the office for a brew, which left a lot of fellow workers with open mouths lol.

Lee Sharpe was a fantastic player and pretty popular back in the day. So what if he played in Iceland towards the end of his career? doesn´t change what he did before that. (it was hardly "a season or two" btw, it was 4 or 5 games.)

More like half a season in a mid-table club. They let him go and said it was because of a long time injury, but in reality it was because he was drunk alot and was shite on the pitch. Went on to play for garforth or something like that.

Shape, Kanchelskis and Giggs to choose from on our wings. Those were fantastic days (not that im complaining about what happened afterwards).

Its a shame as he could still be playing for us like Giggsy had he not been Beckham, before Beckham.

Read Sharpey's biography. It was really honest. He simply stated that Giggs went ahead in front of him simply because Giggsy was better than he was. Period. Brutally honest admission there.
