Antwerp got new owners and Management and they want to rekindle the link with us apparently.

King's only just been sent home, injured, from his last loan. Doubt he'll be making the trip to Hull any time soon.

RED DEVILS DUO DEPART IRON

Scunthorpe's on-loan pair Oliver Norwood and Sam Johnstone have returned to parent club Manchester United.
Midfielder Norwood, 20, joined Scunthorpe on loan in September and has made a total of 17 appearances, scoring one goal.

Goalkeeper Johnstone, 18, arrived at Glanford Park a fortnight after Norwood and has featured 13 times in all competitions despite dislocating his finger during that time.

Another Scunthorpe loanee, central defender Shane Duffy, returned to his parent club Everton last week.

So players currently out on loan are:

Bebe - Besiktas - End of season

De Laet - Norwich - End of season

Macheda - QPR - End of season

Brady - Hull - End of season

Drinkwater - Barnsley - End of season

Wotton - Peterborough - End of season

Tunnicliffe - Peterborough - End of February

Cofie - Royal Antwerp - End of season

I haven't seen the Michael Keane to Antwerp loan confirmed yet although it seems very likely. Any others?

According to himself he had a minor injury back in October but was fit for the rest his stay in Germany, the problem was the coach considered him to be a bit of an emergency back-up due to him "only" being a loanee. But it was an important experience and he's proud of himself for working his socks off in training every day despite knowing he wouldn't play. He'll probably build up a bit of match fitness with the reserves in January, then play out the season at Hull.

King on loan at Hull

Leicester 1-2 Barnsley
Drinkwater started and played the whole match for Barnsley.
Had a good game form what I've read on their message boards.
Spoiler

Drinkwater & Perkins together in central midfield were outstanding in my opinion
The winning goal was a truly brilliant cross from Drinkwater. To do that from a standing position like he did and pick Gray out was superb, and he took it with ******.

Drinkwater - 9 - MOTM - Thought he was superb. 2 assists, great with the ball, strong in the tackle - we've missed him badly, I venture to say that Perkins missed him badly too.

Perkins and Drinkwater compliment each other I hope they both keep fit for the rest of the season decent read cheers.

Perkins and Drinkwater were fantastic.

Hull 1-0 Peterborough
Tunnicliffe started and played the entire game for Peterborough
Wooton came on for the last ~20 minutes for Peterborough
Brady came on for the last 30 minutes for Hull.

Newcastle 1-0 QPR
Kiko came off the bench towards the end. Didnt do much. Couldnt do much.
Saw the game. QPR were shocking.

De Laet's back:

Norwich also confirmed that the Belgian defender Ritchie de Laet has returned to Manchester United after his season-long loan deal was cancelled. The 23-year-old has been hampered by a back injury.

Lambert said: "Ritchie has gone back to Manchester United. We thank Sir Alex Ferguson for loaning him to us and wish Ritchie well for the future and hope he goes on to have a successful career at Manchester United."

Is the back injury the only reason, or has he just been shit? We might be able to use him if this injury crisis continues.

I'm affraid Macheda isn't going to get playing time under Hughes, QPR will probably make some transfers before the window closes.

Scott Wooton's been recalled from Posh.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Rio's dodgy back?

Maybe, although Darren Ferguson said he was unlikely to get as many minutes with Grant McCann back.

Wootton to Nottingham Forest
Their best CB Morgan has left them for Leicester a couple of days ago so he should be in a position where he should get games.
They've signed Higginbotham too.

Added Wooton.
Thanks for that.

Loans: Quartet beaten
Quote:
It was largely a weekend to forget for the United players out on loan, as four of the five suffered defeat with their respective clubs.

John Cofie scored his first goal on his third outing for Royal Antwerp in the Belgian outfit’s 1-1 creditable draw at Second Division leaders F.C.V. Dender E.H. on Sunday.

Federico Macheda came on at half-time for Queens Park Rangers against Chelsea in the FA Cup on Saturday, but the Italian was unable to make the breakthrough as his side were knocked out after a 1-0 home defeat.

Josh King and Robbie Brady also exited the cup with Hull City as Crawley Town claimed a surprise 1-0 win at the KC Stadium.

On his first start for the Tigers, King’s early first involvement was promising but, after a powerful run down the left, he couldn’t pick out fellow striker Matty Fryatt. The Norwegian forward was replaced in 65th minute. Brady, meanwhile, went closest for the home side in the first half with a powerful low shot that was pushed around the post, before the Irish winger came off at half-time.

Ryan Tunnicliffe came off the bench in the 62nd minute for Peterborough, but could not prevent the Posh slipping to a 3-0 home defeat to Portsmouth in the Championship.

The Coventry fans are extremely impressed with Norwood

Norwood

Quote:
It was Scholes he reminded me off. Great passing range, although he did badly fluff 2 or 3 balls and gift them to the opposition.

But in general, mightily impressive. He and Deegan played very much as a partnership, some great inter-play, much of it one-touch, transformed tempo and "Football Intelligence", both pressed, harried and tackled, and I'd be happy to see them continue that for the rest of the season. Deegan got forwards well with Norwood sitting when he did. A proper 442 central duo
Quote:
as going to start a thread on this kid, first half he was absolutely amazing. Best CM performance I have seen at the Ricoh in a long time, much better than anything Clingan has served up this season. Second half he faded out but his first half performance was fantastic. He was hitting 30 yard passes right onto the toe of his target every few minutes
It was like Clingan but less sideways and more forwards and less dwelling on the ball/mistakes.
Quote:
Agree with most of what's been said on here. A few balls into the box that were over hit and went straight through to the keeper, but mostly very impressive. His technique is fantastic too, kind of drills the ball to his target with a load of back spin on so it just hangs in front of a player for easy control. His pass in the first half, i think it was to Sheff on the left edge of the box was class, i groaned at first because i thought it was well over hit, but as mentioned his technique seems to slow down the ball at the last minute.

He looked really good for our reserves earlier this season. Has improved a lot. He definitely has a touch of the Scholes about him in the way he drills passes with his laces.

I'm actually kind of horrified at the prospect of him making it as that will mean Scholesy (the other Scholesy) was right. Doesn't bear thinking about.

Was shocked to see he's only 20. If he performs well on this move, who knows he could get a loan move to Premier League side next season and then do a Cleverley.

Loans: McGinty makes move
Quote:
Sean McGinty has joined Morecambe on loan and could make his debut against Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday night.

The defender, who has made seven starts for the Reserves this term after being part of last season's FA Youth Cup-winning team, has joined the Shrimps until 31 March but there is an option to extend the deal.

Tomasz Kuszczak made his Watford debut in a 3-0 home defeat to Southampton, who went top of the Championship with the three points. The Polish keeper was caught out by Rickie Lambert's header but had no chance with the prolific striker's drilled second. After pulling off a fine stop, Kuszczak was incensed to see the Saints awarded a soft penalty from the rebound and Lambert completed his hat-trick with a clinical strike from 12 yards.

Scott Wootton came on for Andy Reid in the 90th minute of Nottingham Forest's shock 2-0 win at Birmingham as the East Midlanders continue their battle to beat the drop.

Hull City were held to a 0-0 draw by Brighton at the KC Stadium with Robbie Brady playing over an hour. Joshua King was an unused substitute.

Oliver Norwood's Coventry pinched a dramatic 1-0 win against Barnsley thanks to Clive Platt's winner. The Sky Blues' No16 played the full 90 minutes in midfield and was heavily involved in the build-up to the crucial goal.

Federico Macheda wasn't involved for QPR in their 1-0 home defeat to Fulham but John Cofie featured in Royal Antwerp's 1-0 reverse at Oostende.

Another young red gone out on loan.

Reece Brown joins Oldham on loan - Official Manchester United Website

Might be a decent move for Reece. He hasn't got anywhere near what it takes to make it here IMO from what i've seen of him over the last couple of years or so. Should go on to have a decent career elsewhere though if he improves and loans like this can only help.

He seems to be playing a lot for a team that's competing for promotion. That's nice. I like these dark horse types. Better when they don't have this expected pressure on them. He's only 20. For normal footballers that's when they start to get game time for a good club.

Hopefully, but it's the next step that's key - performing well for a premiership side. Cleverley did that, but for an example of where it didn't quite work out see Fraizer Campbell. Like Fraizer though, I can very much see Brady being at the very least a Premiership quality player.

Norwood 7 - Again, another good performance. Also a delightful lob over Myhill that came so close to a goal

His career path has been similar to Cleverley so far, let's hope he goes on loan to a PL Club next season.

Yeah bit of Scholes about the way he pings the ball around and makes badly timed tackles. It be great if he made it here just so Scholesy (the poster) can be right for once .
