Yes, another good performance by Manucho in a 3-1 victory. Scored a penalty with a powerful shot into the roof of the net. It is a shame that this idiot of a coach waited so long to play him. He is looking a lot sharper now and has two matches left in the play-offs.
It has been confirmed here by Panathinaikos that Manucho is going back to OT at the end of the season but they are still hopeful that he will come back to Greece, with Man Utd needing more time, to get his work permit. Lets hope they are wrong!
I must admit that he is starting to look like the player that we all saw in the ANC and I do think that if and when we get the permit, he is going to be a great addition to our squad. He is certainly different to anything we have had before. I still think he needs to bulk up a little for the Premiership as he does get knocked off the ball a little too easily sometimes.
Never mind, he has come very cheap and hopefully, he will be a success.

Hey Steve, which team team do you support in Greece? You seem a little distant from Panathinaikos when you write about Manucho so that's why I don't assume you support them.

It sounds to me like he supports "Manchester United" in Greece.

You know what I mean. I'm asking if he has a local team in Greece, what's so wrong about that?

When I first arrived in Greece, I adopted Panathinaikos as my team because my son played for their youth team. He has now returned to the UK. I have followed them over the years but I get very frustrated watching Greek football. I was brought up going to OT and watching some great Utd teams over the years, so watching Greek football was a very poor substitute.
When Manucho came here, I had an excuse to watch them again.
Being Head of PE at an International School here, my kids are always at me to support Panathinaikos, so now I just brag about our new star, that they are lending for a few months. He is taking them to Champions League qualification, so they are happy. Besides, I have brainwashed most of them into supporting Man Utd, so I have had the last laugh.

That's good. And yeah Greek football is frustrating and quite poor compared to English Football. I don't have a team in Greece too but I follow what's going on and the team I don't like the most is Panathinaikos because they are so bitter the whole time as if someone has stolen their success and on top of that they are arrogant as hell. Manucho has some talent but the football in Greece is so slow that it's going to be an even greater shock to him and a great gamble for us.

Good for Manucho again. Keep scoring goals and gaining publicity. He is just further strengthening our case to get him a work permit using the special talent dispensation rule.

Manucho played today but got injured quite early in the game. Teams need to do that in order to stop the black Pele...

I kind of like "the Great Big Pele". It's very descriptive.

Manucho Keen To Make United Impact

The 25-year-old signed with United in January, but has yet to play for the club after being sent immediately to Greece on-loan.

The former Petro Atletico hitman has impressed for the Prasinoi, scoring four times in seven league appearances, and will join the United squad for pre-season training in July.

Manucho is pleased with the steps he has made during his time in Greece, and hopes to feature for the Red Devils next season.

Experience

"Since the end of the Greek league, I have been in contact with (United assistant manager Carlos) Queiroz and I know that things are going well," said the Angolan.

"I am not thinking about wearing a shirt other than that of United. I am just thinking about playing in the Champions League next season.

"It was a good experience (in Greece). Had I played more games, I believe I could have scored more goals and silenced those who still doubt my qualities.

"Overall, it was a positive experience. English and Greek football have different styles though."

Hopeful

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson snared Manucho on the basis of his excellent performances for Angola during the African Cup of Nations in January.

Manucho scored four goals in the tournament, and Ferguson announced that he is keen to hang onto the tricky forward despite problems regarding his eligibility to play in England.

Sir Alex said in February: "Given that he played for Angola and did so well at the Africa Cup of Nations, we will reapply for his work permit in the summer and hopefully next year he could play for us."

Slack journalism again.

United signed him before the ANC.

Surely he must get a work permit now. He has done just about everything he possibly can and more. The Home Office will easily let illegal immigrants into this country but someone who will actually make a difference has to struggle to get in.

The first application was made before the ANC to try and get him to United in the transfer window.

There was no point in applying again until he could play, ie now, for next season.

oh yeah, sorry Devil, I misread your post.

That's not entirely true though is it?

I'd be interested to know your position on current immigration legislation.

Maybe im exaggerating a bit but there is some truth in it. The UK has too much of an open door policy. We let more people in than any other country then give them all benefits from our taxpayers money. I could go and on...

That's completely irrelevant though, isn't it? You're comparing illegal immigration with a legal process of applying for a work permit for a citizen of a non EU country.

I'll seek to avoid the topic of my disagreement with your statement as a whole (wrong thread, wrong forum) but I'm sure you can appreciate an illegal immigrant and a work permit application are almost completely unrelated?
