Medals for Kuszczak and Pique?

From the beeb's rumours site:

Manchester United are to request champions' medals for Gerard Pique and Tomasz Kuszczak, who each made nine appearances this season rather than the medal-earning mark of 10. (Daily Mail)

Can't find the story on the Mail's website but good news if true. Anyone who plays even a bit part deserves a medal.

Kuszczak will get one as he is the reserve keeper. Not sure about Pique though.

I thought the reserve keeper got one regardless of how many games he played?

Sir Alex should have thought of putting Pique on when we were 4-1 up against West Ham.

I seem to remember SAF doing something similar for another United player when we won a previous Preimership. Can't remember which player it was but it does happen.

It may also motivate Pique to stay.

We deserve it!

We shed more blood, sweat and tears than any of the players and staff combined.

Failing that, a free ticket for an important game next season would suffice.

I felt real sorry when Pique and PIG joined the medal winning players, but had no medals to show.

Hope they get their medals.

If you have to play 1o games then that should be it!

Whats the point of having rules if your going to bend them just to accomodate players who fall short of the target.

Would you really want a medal handed outm to you willy nilly even though you haven't made a significant contribution.

I'd rather not have one!

I think PIG did make contribution, although he did not get to the magical figure.

To be honest, I think they should just make it 1 game and then you get your medal. If you`ve played your part then you should get your medal. Was a bit sad and silly seeing Pique standing in line and then going straight to the podium instead of getting his medal. Don`t see the need for a ten game rule at all, who cares if a few players gets a medal without playing a big part? It`s a team sport ffs.

Notorious P.I.G. (or should I say AIG)... I think he should get this medal. He's not very experienced keeper but he got good reflexes. He played some part in United's defence and he had his moments.

Pique scored 2 goals in Champions League, this season and he was good against Arsenal... he should get the medal. It should give him a good motivation for playing in Manchester United.

Agreed.

Maybe it should be a few games just to stop a manager playing his entire reserve team in one fixture, but ten games is actually quite a lot (it's more than a quarter of the season for goodness' sake!). Players like Kuszczak and Pique play a vital role in the squad -- solid backups who can be called upon when needed. They could be elsewhere playing first team football but they're not; they're here. And they did what they had to do when they were called upon.

I think they deserve a Premier League winner's medal.

True enough. But let`s just say that it was 1 game, and Fergie decided to play the Wellbecks and Simpsons and Dongs in a last game, I mean who would care? It`s a happy moment for everyone involved, and if you`re in the squad you get your medal. I think it would be a nice thing, the young lads would feel even closer to the squad and what not.

Anyhow, ten games is too much. Five should be tops, and three would be more suitable, IMO.

Exactly, Both Pique and PIG played their part. There should always be a special dispension for a sub keeper because he's never likely to make many appearances.

Have you people no honour.

Wouldn't you feel a complete arse if you were jumping about on that podium with the likes of Rio, Ronaldo, Rooney, etc, and you had only played a bit part.

Personally I would feel embarrassed.

not the rate that VDS gets injured! I would rather have Foster start that PIG. He always looks like he's got a mistake in him.

I wouldn`t. You`re part of a squad that goes toghether in training every day. They all play their part in some way. Rules are rules and all that, but I`d personally like to see the ten game limit lowered.

A significant contribution? We wouldn't be champions if it wasn't for PIG. That's good enough for me. 9 games is almost a 1/4 of the season. You really don't think thats a significant contribution?

Then medals would get dished out willy nilly to bit part players who's contribution has been too insignificant to proclaim themselves premiership winners!

Maybe it's just me but I would feel like I was being rewarded when I haven't actually acheived anything!

A premiership winners medal is a decoration of a footballers career. You cant tell me PIG has really been worthy of 2 winners medals in the last 2 seasons?

I honestly believe he has. He`s been our nr2 goalkeeper in both, and chipped in when needed. Anyway, the squad wins the league and the squad should be given the medals. It`s just the way I feel about it, we can agree to disagree.
