Sounds like you're about as jaded as I am with this whole football malarkey.

I've got a bastard of a hangover though, which isn't helping things.

Just a thought.
I wouldn't be surprised they must have a lot of spare time on their hands!

I don't get what's so incredible about a footballer sitting in economy and talking to a fan on a plane

Although congrats manutdpuer on meeting your hero, must have been a great experience
What a dour soul you are Brad. You remind me of Mackay on dad's army ('They'll all com tae doooom ah tell yae!)

And if you took the trouble to read the post you'd see it was his dad who met him, not manutdpuer.

Cuprinol Ronaldo I would guess refers to CR7's suntan relating to woodstain.

The other relating to AC Ronaldo and his weight refering to burgers.

I'm not that dour OldRed, I just don't see everyones desperation to feel like their sporting heroes are great people. I'd be willing to bet a fair proportion of your average footballers are people you wouldn't want to be spending your time with! And as the wise Lizard says, why does him flying economy and signing one persons plane magazine make him so great and good? Folk have a peverse outlook on life sometimes

I did read his first post, I simpy got confused in my reply. I'm glad for his dad then

Consider this if you will: Cristiano Ronaldo earns something in the order of a million pounds every ten weeks (and that's just his wages - all his endorsements are extra) and if he's not already a multi-millionaire then my cock's a kipper.

Question: How many seriously, seriously rich people jam themselves into cattle class and fly transatlantic with the hoi polloi?
Answer: None. None at all.

Ergo this is a wind up.

Economy seats are always the first to go. If there are any last-minute seats left on a flight, you're more likely to to get em in first and business than you are in coach.

Bizarre idea that he would deliberately choose to sit in economy because he was humble or something.

You might think that but its not always the case. If business class seats are limited on flights between London and New York they will sell out fast.

What the fook was he doing in New York though? I don't like this whole "breaking America" bollox he seems to be intent on.
a lot of European footballers love visiting America because when they are they they are essentially nobodies. they don't get recognized, aren't hounded by the press, etc. Klinsmann is one and I recall Ruud telling a story about a taking a vacation in the US and not being recognized by anyone, which he rather enjoyed.

I rarely ever get star struck when it comes to celebreties. From my past experiences most of them are arses.

I look at all the people pre match waiting for a partial sighting of their heroes when they get off the coach in the tunnel and I think whats the point? In a couple of hours you will see them in their full glory on the pitch!

I have only been truely star struck when I saw Bobby Charlton outside before Ole's testimonial.

from what i understand, it is because he took the time to walk back and say hello/chat when it might have been more in keeping with his perceived image to just sign (or more probably not sign) the autograph and leave it at that.

doesn't make him a saint, but it certainly doesn't jive with the impression the media make of him.

I think it's really admirable for Ronaldo to do the following:

1. Sit in business class when he clearly can afford First Class
- Shows he is humble, and doesn't have the ego the press make out

2. To take the time to walk back and chat to my dad and sign an autograph
- Again, shows humility and that he is down to earth

3. To remember my dad at customs and come up and say hello again and shake hands and wish him the best
- Shows he is genuine, humble again and down to earth

The reason I posted this is because many of you have spent the summer bashing the guy for his perceived move to Real. That's modern football as Fergie said. Players get there heads turned all the time (Robinho, Berbatov etc). The fact is Ronaldo isn't a bad guy for considering a move to Real. I'm gald he stayed and from this story and everything I've ever heard about him as a person, he is a gentleman and a top guy.

Maybe this story doesn't do anything for you.

But for me, it confirms how I've always felt about the lad... top footballer, a true gentlemen.

a man who has no understanding of the values and history of Manchester United, a man who had to do an embarrasing uturn when he realised Real Madrid are in no position to make an offer for him, a man who by his own admission made his mind up to leave whilst we were busting a gut singing Viva Ronaldo. I can't respect an arrogant twat like that anymore, red shirt or not.

I distinctly remember him saying that it was Utd's decision whether he was sold or not - we needed to be happy with the fee he expected RM to offer before we would let him go and he stressed that.
