Middlesborough Carling Cup Game

Just had this in a email from united:

Tickets for United's Carling Cup Third Round match against Middlesbrough are now on general sale.

The clash takes place at Old Trafford on Tuesday 23 September (KO 20:00 BST) and looks set to be a cracker of a cup tie. The Reds suffered defeat at the hands of Coventry at this stage of the competition last season and will certainly be looking to avoid a repeat performance.

Tickets can be purchased now on a first come first served basis either online or by calling 0161 868 8000 option 1. One United Members can only claim £5 discount on tickets by calling 0161 868 8000 or by visiting Ticketing and Membership Services.

Ticket prices for this game are available via ManUtd.com.

Right so let me get this straight, members receive a £5 if they phone up and book a ticket while us ST holders, the people there week in week out, are forced to pay full price through the ACS.

It has to be seen to be believed!

The £5 discount is from what the general public have to pay.

Indeed - General sale tickets are £5 more than memebers or ST holders pay.

To be fair (much as it pains me) I think this pre-dates them. May be wrong though...

It has always been the case, non members pay more than OneUnited members and season ticket holders alike, so when on general sale, the price of a ticket to the public goes up - and so it should in my opinion.

Plus this does go back to the pre-glazer era...

Hmmm... some can be a laugh, now that Smudger and Dong are no longer playing up front.

But then it's free to get into reserve team matches. It'll be about £30 for the Stretty

With the kids we've got coming through there's every reason to be excited about the Carling Cup this year. Manucho might make his debut as well. I really wish I could be at OT for this one.

Push off Ralphie, he's mine!

Actually it looks like I've shifted my two again this year. I'm hoping for a similar result to last year, or at least all away draws until the semi final

I have great seats in the Stretty at £26 last year. The miracle of how I managed to find Coventry born United supporters to take my £38 (discounted down to about £30) last year, up in the top of North 2, still warms me to this day!

LRMC and Manx off here are taking the tickets in the main, the times its not taken I put it up on RR, and if no takers there ultimately I'll try shift it elsewhere / put it on Viagogo

And obviously, I'll still be attending a few games too. I'm hoping to get the two Christmas home games in, and if some kind of funny magic works out for me, the Stoke away

I had one already, had to give it away because of work. Attending Carling Cup matches is very different from PL/CL games of course, but I love it and I always will.

exactly. I think we'll play an exciting, young team - it's just a pity it's come so early in the rounds against boro but hopefully they'll rise to the occasion

I'm gonna go 60,000.

Boro managed to scrape a fair fews fans together for a quickly arranged FA cup replay the season before last.

They've only requested 1800 and there's a massive difference between an FA Cup quarter final match and a League Cup third round tie. I expect them to bring less than 500.

The attendance for that FA Cup match against Boro was 61,000, I suggest you edit your post.

Actually, just remembered, I don't mind if we do win, seeing as I don't have to buy a ticket anymore. I can understand those of you who are staying in for away tickets wanting us out asap to save your wallets, but at least you've had the choice this time - just hope it leads to you getting some aways!
