Mikael Silvestre

I met him today in the petrol station! He said he'll be back playing in 3 weeks and that he can't wait! I personally can't wait either, he's been a loyal servant over the years and has taken an unfair amount of stick in the past. Quality player. (I also met Nemanja yesterday, absolute beast of a man + his wife is rather attractive!)

The chances of meeting a 2 Manchester United players on 2 consecutive days does seem rather low.

Do you have any photos ?

So you meet players each day, who you plan to meet tomorrow?

To be fair, if you was gonna brag about meeting a United player... t wouldn't be Silvestre.

Good on him, better Left Back than O'Pie

Aye, that is true.

Unless, of course, he's clever and knew that if he said Silvestre, people would believe him ?

Great, I like Silvestre.

I have a lot of respect for players who spend that amount of time at a club.

Nice one. Is that 3 weeks until he starts training or 3 weeks before he can start playing games?

Fuck knows we could do with some decent cover at LB over the next couple of months. But if he's only starting to train in 3 weeks I doubt he'll feature again this season.

Quality backup. If Oshea never scored at Anfield or Goodison people would slate him as much or more than Mikeal. Both are quality cover and good to have in the squad.

Shame he got crocked. Better LB than O'Shea, who appears to be an excellent keeper and basically should be used strictly as a "relief defender" late in matches.

He meant 3 weeks until he could play again which is good to hear. I'd forgotten why he was out in the first place, it was an horrific injury. He seemed really excited about coming back, which made me sort of imagine how frustrating it must be to be out injured for that long. We obviously can't really empathise as we'd give anything to be in his position, United, bentley GT et al... but when you're there I bet it must hurt having to sit on the sidelines and watch your mates whilst serving no real purpose yourself. Mind you, being behind Evra in the pecking order would probably be a bit of a bummer anyway!

I'm on the case regarding the autograph, just trying to overcome my scanner related technophobia, and I say two fingers to the cynics! I'm also having a root around my room, seeing if I can find anything else worthy of putting up here, I've been pretty lucky with regard to bumping into united players over the years!

Losing Silvestre definitely hurt the depth but also might have cost a few points. He probably starts against Bolton instead of Pique (doubt Mickey makes that judgmental mistake) and definitely at LB when Evra is out which offers more to the attack and not a large loss of pace on the flank. Not saying Mickey isn't prone to mistakes or is a world-beater but who knows.

I hope this works. I'll definitely put some more (far more interesting) stuff up tomorrow, whether anyone else cares or not! That is the point of internet forums after all i guess... Similarly if anyone else has any interesting + scannable United memorabilia I'd love to see it! This is the first time I've even been able to look at anything MUFC related since Sunday, I think I may finally be getting over it. Roll on Arsenal!

If you asked me last year who I’d rather in the squad between Silvestre and that cunt who used tow ear Number Four for us whose name sounds like tomato ketchup, I would have told you Silvestre as he is a very loyal, versatile member of our club who has been with us a long, long time and has been a great performer down the years. He also has a healthy goalscoring ratio for a defender and is adept at getting down that left side and crossing it in.
I like Silvestre me, it will be good to see him back in a Red shirt as cover for the central defence, something that Argie cunt couldn’t manage with any real conviction, as well as the left back role.

doesn't hurt to remember when silvestre fucking nutted ljungberg when we won 4-2 on their patch. feckin loved that. i've never slated silvestre, i have lots of time for him, however i think the gaffer mis used him when he shifted him from LB to cb to partner rio. At LB, silvestre is quality as his distribution from lb is better than anyone else that we have on the books that can play there. Also isn't afraid to get stuck in and has bags of pace. Will be glad to see him come back fit and help us when the fixtures start coming fast and thick.

Wasn’t it Bergkamp? And it was a very soft little tap and the tart went down like he’d been shot, the poof. Shame as Bergkamp was one of my favourite non-United players and seemingly quite sporting up until that point.
Another fun fact about Silvestre is he drives down to Moss Side to get his hair cut, rather than ponce about in Wilmslow or Didsbury, paying a hundred quid to get it styled.

LB is definitely his best position, even though he fancies himself as a centreback. Will make a good backup for Evra once he regains his fitness.

Nah, it was Ljungberg. Bergkamp was the one he shoved down prior to that.

That alone should be enough to make him a cult hero. In fairness, with Silvestre you never know what you're going to get, one minute he is everything, the tough, pacy and occasionally uncompromising defender, next he is Rio on Sunday. He has the tools, pace and physical stature but occasionally his reading of the game and positioning lets him down. That said he is a very handy back up player.

I can't really remember the name but always drive past one barbers in moss side coming out of manchester called something like 'Afro-love fun carribean hairdresser'. Id always heard rumours that a few United lads went there although always thought it was bullshit!
