Just got back from the queue... good feeling to finally have teh tickets in hand!
Stuff they're giving out with the tickets clarifies some issues, but also leaves some questions... Buses form the airport in the price of your ticketb - Presumably these go straight to and from the fan-zones... but a) from which airport, and b) when do they run? Also, the lefalet says the fan zones will serve "beverages"... but will that be alcohol? I've read different thigns in different places! |

"United have a big fan base in Moscow. If you do end up here without a ticket, the unofficial gathering point to watch the match will be Bobby Dazzler, an English-style pub near Chisty Prudy metro that is the headquarters for the Russian Manchester United fan club." Sounds a decent place for a drink while in town then... |

More possibly usefuls tuff on bars etc:
http://www.fsf.org.uk/freelions/fans...utandabout.php Firstly, we reckoned that most people who are staying over in Moscow, as opposed to day-trippers, are likely to want to do a bit of sight-seeing, and will therefore head for the city centre and Red Square in particular. Just off Red Square are the Alexander Gardens (Aleksandrovski Sad), which are bordered on one side by a number of terrace bars, (and a McDonalds, and a pizza place) offering a natural gathering point for thirsty tourists. Beer here was 139 roubles (about £2.70) for half a litre of German lager, 84 roubles (about £1.65) for the same amount of local Russian beer. In smarter bars around the city however, be prepared for prices of four or five pounds a pint. The main gathering point for British football fans in the past however has been a pedestrianised street some five or ten minutes walk from Red Square, by the name of Old Arbat. It’s a tourist-orientated area with lots of souvenir stands, but also a number of bars, cafés and restaurants, including a McDonalds and a Hard Rock Café. A Big Mac costs 52 roubles (£1), by the way. Not far from the top end of Old Arbat is the Golden Ring hotel, which is where the FSF Fans’ Embassy will be based. Kruzhka is a chain of beer-restaurants which serve cheap food and mugs of beer. They are dotted all over Moscow. The menu is relatively simple consisting mainly of kebabs and shaorma with chips. Sport events are often shown on big screens. There are a number of western franchise restaurants like TGI Fridays and Hard Rock Café. The Hard Rock is on Old Arbat Street and is quite reasonably priced. They are also open from 6am for traditional western breakfast i.e. fresh orange juice, hash browns and scrambled eggs. McDonalds are usually based in the shopping malls. |

Well guys, I'll be there with you in spirit. I could have got hold of a ticket but by the time that became apparent, the flights etc had gone beyond what I can afford. I guess there's a lot of Reds in this position. Still I'm sure you guys will represent us well in Moscow, hope you have a great time and that we get the right result.

I've had a few days worry.
Paid a tout silly money up front for two tickets. He went overseas a few days ago without giving me the tickets (said United were delaying releasing them). His email doesn't work and he wasn't answering his phone. Woken up at 3.30am (Australian time) with a text giving DHL shipping details. Should get the tickets in St Petersburg. Slept soundly after that. Out of interest - have black market prices dropped over the last week or so with the transport/hotel difficulties? |

Leaving home within the hour. Get to St Petersburg on Monday via Hong Kong and Helsinki. Doing a ten day tour of Uzbekistan on the way home. Arrive back in Sydney on 4 June. See you then when, hopefully, 17 3 is getting uncomfortably close to their 18 5. |

The more I read, the more it sonds like the chances are the fan-zones will be dry. I found a pretty pessimistic renties forum, where they were talking about how to even slip through the airports without being put straight on a bus there. I'm not risking the fan-zones if possible anyway, just going to try and head to this Old Arbat area and see what's going on there...

Is the term Day-Trippers been used in a sort of Cheap shot - against some fans who have decided to head over and do 2-3 nights???
I hope its not. In relation to Fan zone - its based in Red Square and I have been told fans can go outside the fanzone if they wish (Which I think will be bollocks on the days) I'm in at 10 and out at 9am. Good Luck to whoever is travelling |

I don't think anyone is using "Day-Tripper" as a derogatory term for people who are only going to Moscow for a day. In my eyes, anyone who it going to Moscow this week are dedicated reds. We have all had to work hard or pay a load of cash to get our trips organised. |

The main fan-zones are by the stadium, with one for each side. There is some kind of "football festival" in red square, which presumably means taht you'er allowed to go there, but it's all pretty confusing! |
